Auto Trans Question no 5 spd swap please.

For almost 4 months I have been troubleshooting a problem with my 1990 RX-7 with an automatic transmission. The problem is when I accelerate, in order to let the transmission shift to the next gear I have to lift my foot off the accelerator or it wont shift until around 4-6k. I have to do this through all four gears. if i really ease into the gas it will shift at around 3-4k. sometimes it will redline before shifting! This problem has not changed in two months (no better no worse). The transmission fluid is good . Has anyone seen this issue before? Any idea how to solve it? Any help is greatly appreciated

I don't know if the FC auto trans had a cable or vacuum kick down but it sounds like a sticky kick down valve within the transmission valve body.

Only a trans overhaul will fix that.

If you want to drive up to Oregon, I've got an S4 auto trans. laying around for FREE

I 5-speed swapped last summer [surprisingly easy to do ^_^]

PM me if you're interested!

There's nothing sporty or fast about an automatic RX-7. My POS cavalier is faster than one.
