Auto seatbelts with a mind of thier own
Auto seatbelts with a mind of thier own
So a little over a year ago I picked up this roller, swapped my interior, engine, trans, suspension over, and haven't had too many problems.
Didn't mess with interior wiring other than a little speaker wiring where needed.
I had taken the seatbelt fuse out, leaving them in the full back position, as I really didn't want to f*ck with them.
Well now everything is coming together and I'm starting to sweat the small stuff.
Anyway, with the background layed out, my seatbelts are effing crazy.
The drivers side doesn't move at all, which is fine for me ATM, but the passenger side will go back and forward, completely unrelated to the position of the passenger door.
If I come to a complete stop the seatbelt goes forward all the way every time, if I begin moving again (Even rolling in neutral) the seatbelt goes all the way back every time.
I have replaced both door switches, and can't for the life of me figure out why the seatbelt would be moving in relation to the speed of the car.
The previous owner already took advantage of the seatbelt recall, so this body is no longer a candidate for free seat belt fixin.
Any suggestions?

take it to the dealership. its a recall they had, and since its a safety issue, they are required to replace it for free, no problems.
1 quick suggestion though, take pictures of the interior panels and such if they arent broken. the dealerships have a tendency to break the panels because they arent used to dealing with old stuff like ours.

edit. helps if i read the op first. uh, look through the wiring diagrams in the fsm to see if there is an electrical issue somewhere. if not, pm HAILERS and hell probably be able to straighten you out.

I've done a little research, but wiring diagrams and schematics have just never made much sense to me. i can understand them a little when I look at them, but when i actually get to the car I have no idea whats going on.
As far as pictures before the recall, I wish the P/O would have done that, he told me they jacked up the passenger side trim (obviously cracked) when they performed the recall, and then refused to fix it saying it was that way when he brought it in.
I'll look over the FSM a little and see if i can find some more info, and then look over my Haynes when i get off work, but if someone has encountered this issue before, and it does sound fairly specific, it would be very helpful if they could let me know what ended up being the problem.

yup, "it was like that when you brought it in" ........blah blah ******* blah. i nearly hit the service manager in the face when they broke my NEW a pillar trim, i happen to take the car to the same dealership i buy my parts from and am friends with the parts manager, who happen to have my name on record. *******, they ended up replacing a panels, and the top b panels as well.
anyways, the FSM is really detailed when it comes to the wiring diagrams. everything is color coded, and its really all easy to read.
PM me if you need help, i can find the diagrams and probably decipher them for you
