Auto sealtbelts ------> Manual seatbelts
Auto sealtbelts ------> Manual seatbelts
anyone ever take out the auto seat belts on your 89-91 and replace them with just normal belts?
i had the recall done on my n/a last year...i still need to bring the T2 in...just wondering if anyone's done this or where would be a good place to attach a normal belt where it would still pass inspection.
the canadian FC's don't have the auto belts do they? do you guys have different pillar molding?

Do a search about converting the belts. I've read something on the forum before about someone swapping to the 86-88 style belts and it was a bolt in job. All the factory attachment points are the same for the 89-91 chassis.

Erik, you should be able to bolt them right in, look for an 86-88 junker and take them out. I was thinking about doing for a while when I first got my 7 cause they'd work intermittently. I ended up having alternator trouble so I kept them.
Erik...to convert I think you'll need a whole bunch of plastic trim, not to mention the seatbelts itself. The 86-88's didn't come with black interiors and I know yer TII has a black interior so you'd be stuck looking for Canadian pieces or painting 86-88 plastic.
yeah I have converted them before, all the mounting points are the same and on all FCs (as the canadian models do not have the mouse belts).
The trim is the only weird/hard thing, because most 89+ cars have black interiors, and most series 4 cars have grey, blue, or red interiors.
You need the belts from a series 4 car, the side trim panel (just behind the seats), the door opening trim.

to make the interior look right you need black (probably) trim.
you need the a pillars, headliner, the one behind the driver, and the seatbelts themselves. you can get black 88 trims the 10ae had them, and it is still available new. you need to break the mounting points for the squirrel tracks off somehow.
then you have a car you cant really sell because you have the wrong seatbelts in it. even though i HATE the mouse belts if i has an 89+ i'd probably leave them in
