Auto Meter 5" Tachometer

I just bought a 5" tach with shift light and on the instructions it say that depending on how many cylinders you have you must cut one or two of these loops hanging out the back. I wanted to know if any of you guys have one and which wires I have to cut. Thanks.

I didn't get it for the tach part, I got it for the shift-light part. Thanks.

You need to set it to 4-cyl. It will not work in 6-cyl (why would it).

But yeah, waste of money and space. The stock one's just as big, works just as well, and no-one will break into your car to steal it.

Can't you leave the Rice comment to yourself?

TantricScorpio, when u said u got it for the shift-lite part. We already have a redline buzzer which annoy the crap outta most of us. What's the purpose of having the shift-lite and Buzzer for?

Back when the FD alternator crap was going on I had it tested on the car and the rpms read very similar in both 4 and 6 cyl modes on the tester. Thats why I said "or 6" instead of just 4 cyl.

And you can buy shift lights without a tach. That way you don't spend 100 bucks on a tach that you "didn't want" cuz you wanted to have a shift light right?

not only that but we have a buzzer that goes off when we hit redline, thats better than a light in my opinion

Why do you need a shift light? Or a buzzer, for that matter? Grow some ears, people!

Honestly. If you've got a halfway decent ear, sound + momentum of car should be telling you where to shift...I don't think I've ever used anything else for a hard shift.

normal shifting is the problem, thats ez, i always do it by ear... the buzzer is helpful for the redline so if ur at the drag you can just look ahead and shift when you hear the buzzer go off, very helpful

oh come now, thats not entirely true... to get the full 15HP you gotta put the sticker in ur window too

im just playin, though... if someone wants the tach, that's their business.. personally i think the stock tach is plenty good, considering it buzzes at redline i think thats more helpful than a shift light, but to each their own

hellz yah, especially since you can buy all kinds of stickers for "performance" companies and parts on ebay now, without even buying the product!! so you can just add those instead of the parts and you'll get the HP for so much cheaper!

Don't you think that was a clue that the tacho you used might be busted? It's not normal.

Um....if you bought it just for the shift light, why didn't you just buy a shift light and not have like half your dash taken over by some huge clock looking thing?

do you have a link to just a shift light? I've always seen them sell with the tac.
