I know that my AAS (auto adjust suspension) works to a small degree, probably not as much as when it was new though ( mine has 148k). Look closely at your voltage gauge, and watch to see if it dips down a couple notches when you change from normal to sport. that should signify that it's doing it'd job. how much of a job it's doing though, is up for speculation. I notice a significant reduction in body roll when mine is on sport, just my .02

My mechanic who specializes In our cars said to me the AAS never had a realistic feeling to begin with. I ridded mine the first week I bought the car. The 2 plugs that the AAS used to go Into are gone and now I use them for my Air Compressor and Electric Fan, both being Ignition activated.

When I still had my AAS, I could hear a motor or somthing click when I pressed the button. I truthfully didnt notice much difference between sport and normal modes. Just rip it out and go with a good spring/strut combo.

I'm sure it's worn out by now and doing nothing... the local mech says he's seen only one that still works. and that car only has like 40k miles or something.

muahahah mine works fine. to test it, have someone press the button while you look at the shock tower. you should see the actuator move. If you remove the 2 8mm (if i remember right) nuts and take off the actuator you can turn the little nub counter clockwise to stiffen them up more.

the only time I can notice a difference on mine is in the rear when going over speed bumps. My car bounces like hell when not in sport mode.

my 90' gxl has the AAS and i think it works pretty good. I got around 50,000 miles on the car and you can really tell a defference when in sport mode. on little bumps, you cant really tell. But on the big ones you can really feel a difference. When im on the highway, not having it in sport mode make the ride a lot smoother. Iv raced the car, and we had a few free lunch laps that wernt timed and i had it in normal mode just to see if it made a defference and i found that i would never race with it in normal. It firms up the shocks enough to make a difference in handeling.
On bumps, it doesnt take the edge off of the hard ones, but the 'rolling' bumps get much softer in normal vs. sport.

The manual says its supossed to get harder the faster you go, but i havent noticed that.

Dude, mine works great in my 90 GXL. When you hit the button you can hear a little click, about a 1/4 or half second later..like a relay or something and it becomes NOTICEABLY stiffer. There is a jump in the road behind the Target store in my town and if I hit it at 60 with it in "normal" I bottom-out on the landing..(after an enjoyable 30 foot flight) but with the "sport" setting on it is very firm and doesn't even come close to bottoming out. Also there is a fraction of the normal body-roll in the twisties. Find a dirt/gravel road with stutter bumps (washboard) and drive accross them in "normal" you will hardly feel it..turn around hit "sport" and cross again, you will jar your teeth Well thats how well mine works anyway

well i guess mine isnt working then. i can hear nothing and cant tell any difference when i switch. i guess its alos stuck in sport mode cause when i go across a gravel road its loud and bumpy as hell and wash boards are even worse! so that said any ideas on what could be wrong with it? like what usually goes bad first? i want to get it back to working again becasue i for one think its a pretty neat feature.

mine doesnt make any sounds when its activated. And if you have a ton of miles on the shocks, they are probably going to be so worn that you wont feel a difference.
