Audio Questions

I need to replace my deck with something cheap, I got some pos deck that skips over every crack in the road and i cant get the speakers on the door's to work or the rear tower speakers the (whatever stuff around the speakers) has woren off so it wont sound good but I want to have every speaker working then just change them.

Anyone got a wireing guide for 1991 2nd gen lol.....and can anyone recomend some speakers or show me the size's to look for on ebay for the 2 front, 2 door, and 2 rear tower I'm not looking to spend a fortune btw

The wiring and fixing your problem is found in the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this, the 2nd gen RX-7 Technical section.

Please read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting as it covers many of the commonly asked questions, such as the ones you started this thread with.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-faq-fc-494667/

There you would have found:
What are the wire colors for adding aftermarket radio
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear

Note: as mentioned above the power antenna's trigger is ground (or - ). With all aftermarket radio's antenna output as 12 volts positive (+). To make a stock power antenna work you need a relay wired like this:

Stock Speakers / Amps
Speaker Size:
Dash: 130mm (4”)
Door: 160mm or 150mm (6”) (note: true 6.5” speakers are 170mm)
Rear tower: 4” or 6"
Headrest: 3.5”
Rear floorboard: 5.25”

Amp Locations:
Door speaker amps are behind the driver’s dash speaker.
Front dash amps are next to the radio, or on the passenger’s side next to the pass speaker.
Rear amps are next to the radio (6" speakers), or on each speaker (4" rear speakers).
Headrest speaker amp is in the driver’s side just below the B pillar

Nope, not me... although occasionally I do put "Do not deep fry" stickers on headlight switches

it has sound but it dosent get loud......
ok theres 2 brown wires and 4 blue tied tougher, idk what the 4 are for, I got the blue/orange and I connected a blue one with white dots on it and it sounded but was faint and scratchy, I'm scared to try other blue wires because the other 3 are blue thicker, blue with black line and i cant remember what the other one has on it maybe theres only 3 blue but iono........

The side speakers dont make ANY sound at all.....the very front do but the foam rings around the speakers wore out so they cant take anybass :[[ and umm I'll take the door's off tomaro and try to get the side speakers working....

buzzing and smells funny? i would see if the speaker is blown. try hooking everything up when you know everything works. put in new speaker cable, there could be a tear in the speaker cable and it could be touching metal. as for aftermarket speakers you have 2 choices.

cheap and shitty sound quality

or

expensive and loud with sound quality.

any jensen that says 180 watts is peak rating and it will sound like *** with that much wattage. i would get component(better than coaxial, but more expensive).

infinity has amazing speakers, audiobahn(meh), ALPINE, ECLIPSE. just search it.

OK you can fit 6 1/2 in the door. 5 1/4s will also work. The rears you can put pretty much what ever size will fit.

I beleive stock is 5 1/4 but you can make a plate from metal or wood and a jigsaw and put in 6 1/2s 4s or what ever.

I have 6 1/2s i the front of my vert (same size for you) and a 4" cone plus tweeter in the back.

You have no stock sub woofer in this car. You can build a cheap box or buy one pretty easy.

Does your deck have speaker outputs or do you wanna use an amp?
Either way..skip the stock wires and buy some inexpensive speaker wire. Just route the wires directly from the speakers to the deck/amp. Our stock wires are very thin and it is just alot easier to do it this way. For the doors just rout the wire in though the ruber cover that goes from the door to the chassy. The rears just route under panels and under the carpet to the dash or amp.

The antena wire is a little tricky. In the dash there is a wire (color listed in FAQ) that when you ground puts up the antena. If you are lazy just wire it to ground and it will raise EVERY time you run your car. If not follow the instructions in the faq to install a cheap relay. It is very easy and under about $6.

You sound like you will still have dificulties so just be patient

Buy some 16 guage decent wire from radio shack. Or even 18 should be fine if you plan on installing cheap stuff.

no, no no... you are so far over your head you need to stop and take the car to a car audio installer. Print out the wires listed in this thread and take it to any car professional stereo shop.

The wires are clearly listed in the top part of this thread.

You do not run RCA wires or Coaxial wires, those would be for aftermarket amplifiers between the aftermarket head unit and the aftermarket amplifiers. They would not be used for speakers.

The factory wires are fine up to about 50 watts RMS a channel... unless your headunit/radio is over that (and the most are only 50watts PEAK) there is no need to run new wires.

You do not tie all the wires together, if you have a bunch a blues wired together then you probably have power leads tied in there and have smoked the speaker or head unit.

From your replies, you are way way over your head here, and need to stop trying and take the car to a professional car stereo shop. Find the best one in your area and just spend the money. It is better than than at best blown out speakers and a radio, and at worst a burned up car.
