Hopefully my last n00b question for a while

This one is transmission related. Surprisingly for 90k on the clock the trans on my car feels great, however it seems as though something is worn out. When in neutral the car does not spring back to the neutral spot between 3rd and 4th. Gear engagement is excellent but it just has no ambition to spring to the center position.

Is this an easy fix?

the return springs in the tranny are shot. It's a pretty common problem, although it can only be fixed by rebuilding the tranny.

That blows, at least the tranny shifts like butter, so I can't complain too much.

Are you talking about the shifter not moving to the center when its not in gear? Just staying below or above whatever gear you just took it out of? Sounds like the centering spring to me. Unless you are talking about something else?

The spring from 5th is fine but from 1-2 it is very weak and does not slide back in.

im guessing since thats the more frequently used side that return spring would be the first to go.
