The audio from my speakers are cutting in and out at random. What do I do?

I have an 88 T2 with the stock "Premium Audio Package". I have a new Eclipse cd deck in with anything else that was originally there gone.

When Im driving, all of the sudden both fronts and the rear right, or both fronts, or the and front and rear right will just cut out on me. Then theyll come back on. I can never tell if its cuz I hit a bump in the road or if its when Im making a sharp turn or not, but somethings making it happen.

So, a long while ago, before these problems and I was buying the Eclipse deck, I asked a car audio guy if its a good idea to replace the stock wires for any reason. He said "No. Keep the originals in cuz Mazda knew what they were doing when they put them in." Now Im at a loss. I want/need to get new speakers (which Im trying to find out if I can do anything bigger than 4" in the front right now), but should I push to get the wiring re-done? One thing of note is that in rainy season, water gets into my car and builds up moisture inside. Nothing is shorted out, so I dont think thats the problem.

-Should I look around and see if someone is willing to replace the wiring to all the speakers? (whats a good price cuz Id have no idea how to do it myself?)
-Is it just that my speakers are old and replacing them would fix everything?
-Anything else I might have missed?

Thanks

Doesn't sound like your old wires. Sounds more like your headunit is going out or the internal amp is over heating. Check your power connections to the unit to see if they are secure.

Its still a good idea to change out your speaker wires if your into listening to good music while driving around. Its not that hard you can do it yourself.

sounds like cold solder. remove the speakers from the hones and resolder the points on the amp and problem solved. remember, these cars have many many electrical problems that are solved that way. i took all computers from mine and resoldered them to preven electrical failure. let me know if it works out

if the Headunit has a built in amp(Which it probably does). Run new speaker wires, direct form the back of the head unit to each speaker. It's pretty easy, just kind fish some spekaer wire under the carpet and interior panels etc. Stock the car has built in amps that power each speaker. the back ones have this huge ugly black encolsure, the fronts are amped by a bocks under the passenger side dash. Just bypass all the old speaker wiring. You could also be killing your headunit by using the old wiring. If it's amped, you're sending an amped signal into a less powerful amp. It causes the signal to be shot back and forth. It's just not a good thing.

Was the aduio technician a certified guy?

The technician was just some run of the mill car audio shop guy.

Honestly, I have no idea about car audio. If I just bought some speaker wire and directly connected the cd player 1 by one to a specific speaker Ill be fine? I dont have to go through an amp or something?

If the cd player has an internal amp, yep just run hot and ground to each speaker. make sure you do it right though. With the faders you can narrow down speakers so you get them right. You just need wire, and connectors.

Yeah, my front speakers do this as well, it's a bad solder joint in the Mazda amp. I just re-ran new speaker wires direct from my eXcelon, and voila, problem solved.

I have to get off my lazy *** and do this as well. My damn door speakers do the same thing, and I am tired of checking for wax in my ears thinking I went deaf on one side

NO, you were over driving the stock amps. AS posted before, you can not run more than 15 watts into the stock amps or you overheat the inputs and have happen exactly what was happening.

m5runner has no clue of the problem when he (or she) suggested cold solder joints in the factory amps.
