Audio Din Cable Broken/Cut?

Our RX-7s use a 6 pin din cable that runs from the radio to the factory amp under the drivers front dash speaker.

If this cable is damaged or cut from a thief cutting out your radio your basically screwed into buying a whole dash harness (as I am dealing with)

The 6 pin male/female din cable cannot be found anywhere! i tryed all the on line stores as well as radio shack and best buy.

My research showed it is very similar to the 3000gt/dodge stealth system.

I then found out the cable for the volvo accessory cd changer uses the same style 6 pin offset design. but both ends are male.

However I found the manufactor for the volvo cable can make our cable for less than $20 bucks shipped. Not bad when your looking to replace the whole dash harness.

his ebay page is below.

I know most people use aftermarket radios now but just a helpful link as it took me a better part of a week to find this info.

Radio factory harnesses / connectors from the factory harness to radio can be purchased at the link below as well as a aftermarket wiring kit for aftermarket radios.

Mmmm....what model RX7 are you referrencing. I have done the stereo in an 88GXL and a 90Vert. No DIN cables in those. Might be a DIN cable between the radio and the CD player in the GXL, maybe one to the signal processor in the S5 Vert, but they don't go anywhere else.

Maybe a model I haven't seen? Show and tell more.

thx

My 88 GXL had an amp in the front dash speaker but no DIN cable. However, there were no door speakers.

Have you looked in the FSM?

Edit: I just check the Factory wiring diagram. The DIN cable described is only present on S4 models that have door speakers. If your S4 doesn't have door speakers, ie it only has rear and dash mount speakers, don't go looking for that DIN cable.

Hope that helps.
