This all started a little over a year ago when I hit a deer in my 7. The deer destroyed my left front headlight along with most of the front bodywork. Well I had a well known local body shop do the repairs and all was good, or so I thought.

A few days ago I decided to go out for a moonlight drive and I noticed that my left front headlight was aiming way over into the middle of no place. I then thought "gee, maybe they never readjusted my headlight after installing it." Well I'll be damned they just bolted that sucker in there and went about their business. So I set up the tape on the garage door and found the newly installed headlight to be WAY off and the factory installed one was also a good bit lower than spec. After a little inspection I realized what had happened. When I installed the coil overs and lowered the car the headlight angles were also lowered. Anyhow; I adjusted them back into spec as good as I could (dealer can do it better "they" say). I then took her out for a drive and saw that I had aimed way to high so I went through some adjust and readjust about six rounds of it until I got them just were I like em. And I didn't get flashed all night so they must be alright to oncoming vehicles. But adjusting the headlight made a nice improvement in night time vision. It seems that you loose a good bit of light when the lamps are aiming right into the ground.

The directions to adjust the lights are in the factory manual as well as the haynes so all their liabilities apply to whatever I just said!

If your car is still at stock height and the headlights have never been messed with, don't mess with them.

It's worthwhile to check the aiming on the stock lights anyhow - who knows what happened in the car's past that could cause the headlights to be misaligned.

Very true - I just recently bought my RX-7 (used of course lol), and the lamps are way out of alignment! some joker ran the alignment bolts in as far as they would go on the left light - was aimed somewhere under the right lamp!

I think I have to agree.

By the way dealerships are not always that good at aiming headlights... I have a 98 jeep cherokee that I have taken to the dealership to have the headlights reaimed countless times and they can NEVER get it right. My Rx7 headlights are much better..
