atkins rebuilds?

i have an 86 na automatic im doing a turbo and tranny swap on
i have the engine and tranny and everything but the engine needs to be rebuilt

i was going to do it myself but i dont have the time and knowledge
i live in wa so i called atkins and they wanted like 2 grand for the rebuild and 350 for a streetport

but ive read some places that they dont do good rebuilds and i wanted to make sure

im also wary of the atkins apex seals so im probably gonna go oem?

any experience with their rebuilds or anything else would be appreciated
thnks guys

I would say that Atkins is one of the best if not the best in the business.

The guy I bought my vert from put a atkins rebuild engine in it. I have put 30k on the engine and no problems.

My father used a atkins master kit, ran it for estimated 30k before selling it. Then the new owner ran it for awhile before selling it. Never blew up from what i know. I used a atkins kit on a 12a but never ran it Ended up selling it to someone which i never heard much about afterwords. Packaging was proper, not thrown all into one bag and make you guess where every little thing goes.

There are a FEW horror stories about atkins but im a firm believer about them. The seals have been proven to hold high boost levels but when they go it was probably because of a poor tune or predentonation or neglection or **** just happening. Ive spoken to the owner Dan the man a few times and he was VERY nice and VERY helpful even if it was a stupid question he is glad to help. Atkins all the way for me!

All seals hold boost under ideal conditions.

It's how well they hold

That is not all true.

If you read through the link you posted you would see some seals are better for certain set-ups. Like the racing beat seals are great for n/a but not ment for boost. Also PTS not ment for a DD. Overall i say atkins seals are like OEM but even better ALSO they can be used for any application you want....basically.

ya i read that before i even posted this cuz i figured this is an exhausted subject by now
the only thing that threw me for a loop with atkins was this part of that thread

"Feedback: SPLIT by far. Probably the most tossed around names, Atkins seems to have problems with their rebuilt engines and seals."In addition to their failure to be good business people, I have heard of more instances of Atkins failures than any other brand."- jeff48. Others have said that their seals have survived horrible boost spikes and detonation and are still in use.

Conclusion: Seem to be more negative the positive, luck of the draw."

and what about their streetporting
any experience with that?
