I made one out of 3x3x1/4" angle iron for about $10. It took about an hour.

Regarding your other question, people on this site have frequently stated that they are able to bolt the motor directly to their stand. I never tried.

Here are a couple of pics of what I made. It was pretty easy.

Do you have any drawings from when you made yours, or at least the hole pattern measurements for the engine side? I've got a friend who is going to help me make one similar to that, and that's the main thing we're missing. Thanks!

I tend to engineer on-the-fly, so no drawings. I made the motor mounting hole pattern by placing an appropriately-sized piece of poster board on the motor, pushing and poking it with my finger to locate the holes, and then cutting them out with a craft knife. If you eyeball one hole (for the stud), cut it, and then bolt the template in place, it will keep it from moving while you do the remaining three holes. The process took about 5 minutes, and the result lined up perfectly, with no slop. I can measure mine for you, but I think you're better off making your own pattern.

If you decide to make one like this, put the piece of angle that mounts to the engine on the left side of the other two pieces, instead of to the right of them as shown in the picture. This will distribute the motor's weight better when mounted to the stand.

You can bolt it up to the bolts for the ac/ps rack, but it will be pretty off-balance. Its fine for just putting the engine together, though.

lol did I say "just you a five gallon bucket? hahah. Anyways yeah I hear what your saying. My first rebuild I used a 5 gallon bucket and I really didn't like that at all being that everytime I wanted to flip sides I had to lift the hole motor up and rotate it by myself and after a while it started to get annoying. I broke down and bought one from pineapple racing.
