Atkins apex seals?

I've seen references to them, but I can't find the original thread on them...

I just came across this thread in the Vendors section, and there's some scary stuff being said about these apex seals - 15psi max boost???

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=270096

I don't think all of us go poking around, so I figure I'd put a reference to them in here for the interested...

Man I don't have time to read the whole thing but I read up to where rotaryextreme got screwed twice by them, it does sound like they suck (as far as rebuilds). And if their apex seals only hold 15PSi then buying those is limiting you right away lol (Id much rather be limited by something OUTSIDE the motor instead of INSIDE the motor). Oh well...

Hmm...pretty odd. I know Kevin Landers uses Atkins seals in his motors and haven't had too many issues. I'll be using these seals for my next rebuild but my car will be stock. Mainly because I hear these seals are softer, break in easier and do not do too much damage compared to OEM if something were to happen. (rebuilding my first engine)

My next race motor will probably be built with Rotary Aviation seals though since I hear good things from BDC and Ito. Supposedly much, much tougher apex seals.

I don't know how accurate the info is, but if there is a chance that it's true and someone from Atkins claims the seals are not reliable over 15psi, this worries me...a lot...

Yes, I've heard this too. Not just in that thread also. So it just might be true I guess...
