ATF Trick questions and suggestions

I've been reading about the ATF trick all over the web. I think I understand how to do it and what it will do for my car.

Now I want to know if I SHOULD do it.

My car is an 88 RX-7 NA (FC) vert.
Aftermarket air filter is the only real mod. The car runs fine. There is a fair amount of vibration at high RPMs. So, should I do the ATF trick to clean up any carbon build up and stuff or should I just leave it alone. Pros and cons would be helpful too.

Thanks
-Max

Many discussions on the subject. My opinion is to do the trick if a problem exists, eg flooded, low compression, cannot start etc. I don't feel it's beneficial as a maintenance project.

Thanks TurboNut
I've read all the discussions I've found in the 2nd gen and 2nd gen archives...I think. It seems you know exactly how I'm looking at this, it is a "maintenance project" but I'm a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" kinda guy.

The water trick is supposed to help clean out some carbon, and i havent heard of anybody having problems after doing it. I did it last week and my idle seems a little smoother.

its combustion chamber and air intake cleaner go to amsoil.com i think is thier site, its aproduct made to clean off carbon and doo all the stuff people use atf, water, or carb cleaner to do. Its like 5 bucks a can and in my case raised my compression substantially, its a foaming cleaner that you spray in the intake with the motor on
