Arrow ATF trick question

What is the best brand/type of ATF to use for the ATF treatment? Do some brands/types do a better job of dissolving the carbon?

I've had nothing but good luck with Marvel's Mystery Oil. It's basically ATF, but designed to burn better. I probably use WAY too much (maybe 13-14 oz) at a time.. I hear it doesn't smoke as much, either.

Is that 13-14 ounces for each rotor, or do you split that between the two fo them?

Also, do you attempt to get some of the excess fluid out by taking out the plugs and turning the engine or do you just fire it up?

Has anyone had problems with adding too much atf? I'm wondering if it's possible to run into any kind of a fluid lock problem if someone really dumped a bunch in and didn't drain it first. Or would it all just get shoved out the exhaust ports before there was a problem?

would it be a good idea to do this say once every 3 months , to make sure its clean in there? or only when the engine seems to be losing compression?

Is it in any way bad that you guys know of ?
thanks

How long do you guys let the car sit with the ATF fluid in it?

I've never done it before, but I planned on dumping some in each of the chambers, and then going out every couple hours and bumping the engine over with the starter spread the fluid around a bit. Is this a good idea? I'll probably let the car sit overnight.

Also, if I did it this way would it be a good idea to disconnect the spark plugs and pull the EGI fuse so no spark or fuel get to the engine for when I bump it over?

I'm probably going to end up doing this Thursday night.

they say let iy sit for at least 24 hoursb but the longer the better. As for what i did, instead of using the starter, put a ratchet on the main pulley and rotate the motor that waay to fill, then come out every couple hours aand rotate it the oppisite direction. that way all sides get great coating. you may need to add a little more if you rotate often, because it will go out the exhaust ports.

You should leave the ATF in for llike 24 hrs. but when i first did it i was told to add fuel injector cleaner too. about a 50/50 mixture or less fuel injector cleaner when you leave it in longer. And to rotate it, it's better to put it in 5th gear and roll it a bit instead of turning the engine with the fuel injectors disconnected. This way it covers everything and it's thicker and doesn't flow out yet. Then when you're going to start it turn it over a few times to blow it out, and then reconnect the injectors and let her smoke.

I turned the engine every few hours with a ratchet.. Before I started it up, I took all 4 plugs out (and the EGI fuse!!!), and cranked it maybe 5 times for 5 seconds each.. Blew a BUNCH of it out into the engine bay.. May want to put some paper towels in there if you do this. But it did smoke for considerably less time than when i didn't do it.. As for how long to let it sit, the longer the better.. I've done it for 48 hours both times.
