Exclamation (ASAP answers) Catalytic converter removal

Sorry for crap thread, I know it has been covered a lot but couldnt find any straight answers.
I have a n/a s5 with catback exhaust, Im looking to remove my cats and replace it with a straight through pipe.

Questions:
1. if i do this will it blow out heaps of smoke?
2. will it affect my 5th and 6 ports ie. not enough back pressure or something, whats a solution.
3. will it give me more power, im guessing it would

is there anything else i should be aware of
is it a good idea? who has done it?
thanks in advanced

1)No, it won't blow smoke, if it does, then there's a leak somewhere and it wouldn't have anything to do with the cat.
2)it won't kill backpressure, it'll help it slightly (as in remove it, i guess would be the way to phrase it)
3)There will be more power, cause the cat restricts power with the way it's designed.

The only thing is, is if you run catless you won't pass inspection if you have emmission unless you keep the old cat and just put it on when you get your car inspected then take it back off when you get home.

And me and my friends have/are doing it with our cars.

Yeh, I did one of my 88's...all I had on the system was two stainless steel glass packs with 4" outlets. No smoke, sounded good, more power w/ a little better mileage. Go for it.

No more than it did before. That cats don't filter smoke, they just convert invisable, harmful chemicals into other invisable, harmless ones.

will it affect my 5th and 6 ports...
Nope, the S5's auxilary ports and VDI are actuated by air pump pressure, not exhaust backpressure like S4's. You should look in the FSM to see how they work.

will it give me more power...
Reduced exhuast restriction will always give you more power, as less energy is used to push the exhaust gases along. This is particularly the case with stock cats, as at this age they are likely to be very clogged.

1. No it doesnt smoke
2. It smells like a rotary
3. It will effect your port on a s4
4. Do the electric port convertion, like I did.
5. It does gave you a little bit of a noticable boost in power

I bought the Corksport straight pipe to replace my cat, not recommended if you need to pass emissions.
