Applying vacuum to Brake Booster

Hi guys,

Im measuring the gap from the brake booster pin to my beake master cylinder and the manual says to apply 500mmhg of vacuum pressure to the booster.

Is this something I can do with one of those handheld vacuum pumps?

I just got my brake booster serviced at Power Brake Booster so im assuming its in good shape. But it doesnt seem to hold a vacuum. Is there a process to this?

It's fine to use a handheld vac pump, but as long as the pedal isn't depressed the booster should be holding vacuum.

I've had RX-7s that would hold vacuum in the booster for weeks, if not months.

So my booster is OFF my car currently.

Would it be possible to apply vacuum off the car?
