Apexi power fc vs e8 haltech
I have a brand new e8 haltech for my 87 s5 turbo II swap that I'm doing and I have been looking at selling it and buying a apexi power fc but I can't make my mind up. If I should stay with the haltech. What do you guys like, my biggest thing is I want to be able to tune the car my self and I can buy a power fc with a base map already set up on it for my setup that I have. That's all I need is a base map and I can go from there. My car is going to be more a street car I'm making some what of a drifter.

yeah you hit the nail on the head, the PFC is nice cause its got a base map, the haltech is nice cause you can tweak more stuff....
the haltech will just take more time, is really what it comes down too.

how good is the cars existing loom,, and do you have flying loom package for the haltech?
not a fan of PNP looms in FC's,, would rather these essential things is a full rewire,, and the haltech flying loom quality is excellent
and you can easily get haltech maps suit stock coils and injectors or whatever you please,, and they work well once you establish the trigger and tooth settings
it will also have capacity to do all your potential future needs
haltech FTW,, a very good,, easily reconfigured suit your need,, piece of gear

then put a request for map in on the haltech users sub forum
you need to tell-- what size map sensor,, what coils,, what injectors, what the engine setup is ( port, manifolds, turbo, projected boost and rpm )
and importantly what firmware is installed in the haltech
then you pick a map that best suits all these factors ,, you may have to pick something similar and reconfigure it
ie,, you may find a stockish map and its only for sequential ( not stock ) coils
you can import the fuel only side,, or you can import the whole thing,, and just change the ignition config back to stock setup
easy peasy

i like my PFC, but you need more than just the computer to do it right.
d-jetro PFC w/ commander and datalogit, gm 3 bar, FD iat, and banzai's pigtail, labtop, keyspan usb/serial adapter.
i spent to much.
i would just use what you have, because you already have it
