I really dislike the sound of both, personally :P
Though, some people really love the N1 for some reason :o

It is all a matter of taste. Don't buy it before you hear it if you're buying it for exhaust sound though.

A GT series is full stainless steel and very streetable since it has a resonator. The N1 from Apex isn't stainless steel (except for the muffler). I personally don't care for each and perfer Corksport. But you have the choice and money, I'de recommend the GT series, its much more quiet.

The GT spec exhaust retails for $700-$800 for a cat-back. The N1's are $400-500.
The reason for the price difference is the superior build quality, the wider diameter piping and the in-line resonator on the GT spec exhaust.
It's obviously the higher quality of the Apexi systems, so if you can afford it, get it.
I was lucky and got my GT series exhaust for $300 through a friendly connection.
My good friend and rotary 'mentor' has dual N1's on his TII, and I can tell you that the GT spec is quieter and deeper sounding at idle, is a lot more subdued (deeper and quiter) for low RPM city driving. But as soon as it's opened up, it maintains a deep, smooth and increasingly intense, orgasmic exhaust note. I've never heard a better sounding system on an FC.
If you can afford the GT spec, BUY IT! There's NO WAY you'll be disappointed. Be patient when ordering it though, because it may need to be shipped from J-pan.

I've got a GT spec, for the quality. As other people can attest between the two exhausts the GT spec is better quality without question. I took into consideration the high heat that a rotary exhaust must endure and thus chose the better build quality.
For exhaust note, at cruising speed the sound isn't enough to too much attention from the cops, however open it up and you'll have all the attention you need.

I recently put a used N1 Dual system on my NA. It does have a very deep and menacing sound to it, but it's just way too loud for my tastes. I gotta say, though....it does sound absolutely amazing when driving under a bridge! I've ordered up a pair of the super silencers and I hope that'll be enough to make it bearable. I'm also not crazy about the look, but different strokes for different folks.

GT spec if you've got the money... I just got rid of my Dual N1's on my s4 nonturbo. With the racingbeat header and presilencer it was obscenely loud. I thought my head was going to explode. I even put a cat in and it was still too loud. A cop pulled me over and gave me a warning for that ****, and I was granny shiftin y0.
I've heard a GT spec on a 240 and I liked it a lot.
