apex seals....

hi im wondering if apex seals are hard to replace. other than pulling the engine out and getting the rotors out, like how much would i pay to get the seals replaced and is it going to cost a butt load of money. and is it a major problem. as in it would make you not want to buy the car is it was being sold.

Well, you dont just "replace" them per se.. You have to spec out the motor too and see what else needs replacing.

well the car burns oil really bad, so thats what i was guessing what the problem was. because i know rx7 burn a little oil (read the faqs) but the owner said alot of oil is being burned, so thats what i was guessing. so your saying i would not only fix the seals, (if they needed fixing) but there are likely to be other problems?

Oil control rings or the oil control ring o-rings is the oil burning problem.

You'll probably want to get the atkins a rebuild kit at the very least, this should solve the oil burning problem, you may want to get apex seals too.

Motor needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Consider sending the engine out for rebuild or not buying it at all
