Apex seal taper: how much is too much.

Well, I've found a few threads that start to touch this.... and I've read the FSM on the spec, but the FSM doesn't touch the groove taper at all. It only touches groove tolerances.

I'm currently inspecting my rotors for my NA DD; I want them to be in good condition, I have two sets to pick through, so I'm sure I have a good set, I just want to make sure.

They are all within spec as per the FSM at the widest point in ALL grooves, but the bottom of the groove is definately smaller than the top of the groove. Not by much, MAYBE .0005 more than the bottom. That is still enough to get me curious.

So... How much difference in clearance from the bottom to the top is okay?

You mean the groove in the tip of the rotor the apex seal slides into ? I thought it was an overall clearance.

I don't think anything is spec down to 0.0005".

Okay, so my rotors are probably just fine.
