And does anyone know how well a cat will work being mounted after the downpipe? Will it work allright but just take forever to start working?

If the presilencer length is determined, would that be the extra length of pipe that must be welded on to join the rb header and the main cat?

RB has many Silencers. Different ones are used on different systems. I havn't talked to MAX in a while but if I meet up with him I will ask him to let me measure it.

Yes, to join an RB collected header with a main cat or main cat replacement, pipe must be added. It would be the difference between the length of the presilencer and the length of the cat.

You've got it.

The cat will still see plenty of heat to work effectively.

So the length for the presilencer is 20 inches? I want to know for sure before I order the header and bring it to an muffler shop.

I dont want to pay $450 for a high flow cat when my cat right is still in pretty good condition and I can get a pipe welded on for a fraction of the cost.

1. 20" is the racingbeat measurement on all their presilencers. I measured my s5 t2 presilencer to be 20.75". Whether or not the others differ is not something that i'd be able to determine.

2. $450???? Try shopping somewhere else. Even the bonez one which is rather overpriced, costs $250.

3. The stock cats are VERY restrictive. Especially after 15 years of carbon going through them.

The $450 cat I am referring to is the header and high flow cat combo that mazdatrix sells as a direct bolt on.

http://mazdatrix.com/e-gray.htm

The total with the header and lengthened high flow cat would be close to 700 shipped roughly.

Do you recommend that I get a new high flow cat?
91 NA with 73k original engine.
Is there anyway to check to see if my cat is on its way out other then going for a spirited drive and checking to see if it glows or not?

Sorry if I am hijacking.
