anyone interested in intake/ turbo pipes

this is for T2 and n/a so if your interetsed read the whole thing. i am looking into having a few pipes bent up to replace the TID and the outlet pipe from the turbo to the stock intercooler. the TId would be pretty much the same as the other tid's out there. the outlet pipe would be a right angle bend that uses 2 silicone couplers at both ends. it would give u a solid elbow instead of the stock rubber one. i would also add a pipe to go from the intercooler to the throttlebody inlet. for the n/a guy it would be a pipe to replace the whole hose from the afm to the throttle body with silicone connectors at both ends. not sure on price yet but the T2 kit would probably be around $75 and n/a be around $50. let me know if your interested

Depends on the specs of the TID. What size? Would it require the removal of the air pump? Would it include the cone filter and all fittings? What is it made of? Is it mandrel bent? Is it a polished product? er... I cant remember what its called, but would the tips of the pipes have those little groves in them to prevent the silicon fittings from popping off?

i'm probably going ot have them made out of aluminum. i can do polished/chrome/powdercoat but it would cost more. i could include the cone filter and adapter for the S4 (what i have) im not sure if it will work with the air pump but i could make one for and one for without if it doens't. once the clamps are tight i've never seen silicone slip off a pipe. the pipe would be somehwere between 2 and 2.5 inch. any other questions let me know. hopefully i'll have the fist set for my car in the next day or so

I'm in...S4 NA motor, I'd opt for the 2.5 inch on just the pipe...we bend pipes at my brothers shop for all our exhausts and IC piping ourselves but I'm rarely there and I'd have to order more piping...I'd actually go 3 inch if I were doing it myself bc thats what the intake diameter on the NA seems to be. Aluminum is fine for me, have it made and just tell me where to mail the $$

Why would the turbo tid be more expensive if it is actually less material and easier to fabricate

the Turbo ones would be more becuase the smaller bends are harder to make. and the price includes a turbo outlet pipe also. im not sure on prices but im shooting for under 100 for both with the n/a be slightly less. am not sure if the tid will work with an air pump though. trying to find someone around here with a t2 and an air pump aint easy

NAs have two other pipes running off of the stock intake tube. I personaly don't have either still in working order so I don't care but others NEED these two pipes. And how exactly do you connect it to the throtle body? I'm guessing you would need to cut the stock tube and leave a little rubber to clamp onto. I think the two small acc tubes will prevent you from making an affordable part here. The TIDs sound like a wonderful deal though. The NA stock tube is also not much of a restriction and would most likely not produce any gain. I'm not trying to shoot down your idea; I'm just pointing out some things you may have overlooked.

well, the real appeal of the NA one is I believe he is making the throttle body elbow as well...so all piping from the filter/AFM to the TB is aluminum...I like that Idea simply bc it'll clean up the motor a bit...I doubt any gains, perhaps a different sound though!!

don't look for power in the material, it's for looks; cleanliness...or someone who doesnt yet have an intake. it's a peace of mind mod for 2nd gen car, especially the NA's.
