Anyone here a F-CON pro? E190 ROM problems
I end up buying this E190 ROM for my F-CON. Install it and it won't start. Flip the chip around and install it that way and I hear my injectors firing just with the ignition on. Crazy ****.
Put in my original chip and it runs. Old chip is E101. I just found Splins old F-con post and he stated that the E101 was for a TO4E upgrade. I have searched all over the net to try to find the E101 chip. Nothing found and even HKS website doesn't list it anymore.
Does anyone know more info on the E101 chip? I am gonna call HKS tommorrow to see what they tell me.
was E190 ROM made for another model of F-CON?

Well I talked to HKS and as always there technical assistant line is a bunch of bull.
The representative told me that the E190 ROM should work and it may be corrupt.
I then proceeded on asking them was the chip originally in my F-CON, E101 an upgrade chip similar to the E190.
HKS replied saying that E101 is for Japanese spec 86-88 Turbo II's. Right then I knew this guy was just reading a computer screen becasue all FC's in Japan were turbo.
I still asked him again, " Is E101 the factory chip for "japanese spec" FC's or is it like the E190 in America, which is to support a turbo and intercooler upgrade?"
He basically said all Fcons from japan came with different ROM #'s for each specific vehicle application.
I gave up at that point.
So again does anyone here besides Splin have some intel on the E101 chip. Or better yet, anyone install the E190 ROM and had it actually work?
Thanks again guys.

what setup do you have?
E101 and E190 are both for their old to4e/fmic combo, i am guessing one is the older map and the e190 is their improved map or what not.
if the e101 rom works, why are you putting a different chip on? do you have stock turbo? if you do, e149 is the one you want....
also, dont put the chip in up-side down. it could fry something..... chip, or fcon, or both....

yea man the E149 is the std chip. ive never heard of the E101.
Has anyone ever though that since the Fcon works off its on boost sensor you could run 1680cc secondardys and use a SAFC to half the pressure sensor input signal going into the FCON and it might be ok???? Since your not changing the AFM signal which, if you did that would advance the timing off the planet.
Ive just found out ive got some 660's at home and im gona try run them with some 800's as secondarys and find the closest setting with the dial and go 1 above it and then de tune with the SAFC and run 15psi on my hybrid

My turbo is a Turbonetics T04B Hybrid H trim.
I know E149 is for factory.
I don't think I fired anything since I swapped the e101 and e190 multiple times. Both chips upside down cause injectors to fire with just ignition on. Once flipped right, E101 starts the car while e190 just cranks but no love.

I have 2 FCON's I bought from seperate sellers. One has the e101 and one has e104, according to the outer case, but both chips themselves have other misc. numbers/letters that do not releate to those codes at all. I have not used either one in my car yet. I've just gotten my WBO2 and my water/meth injection installed so I am set up to test and run higher boost now, and will probably try to play with the FCON's at some point when time allows.

ive run 2 different fcon setups.
1: 88 t2, 4x550 injectors, fd fuel pump, hybrid turbo @11psi, should have been the e149 rom @8-9. ran fine...
2: 88t2, 2x550 2x680 injectors, fd pump, stock s5 turbo, mild port @8psi, e190 rom, @about 1-2, fine tuned with the gcc.
e190 seems like its richer up top than the e149

update: just talked to HKS again and asked what i needed to do in order to send an F-CON in for a check up. The rep told me they no longer have the troubleshooting equipment since the F-CON is absolete.
He told me a little more regarding why the E190 ROM didn't work. Besided the usual "your F-CON/ECU/wiringharness/ anything else" could be the issue, this older F-CON did have a California exclusive one that did not allow for a ROM upgrade due to emission regulations.
Interesting. If the E101 is in fact a upgrade chip then I doubt mine is a California one.
Again the HKS rep told me that E101 is straight from japan and wouldn't be able to tell me if it was an turbo/intercooler upgrade chip.
So kinda on our own when comes down to working with this prehistoric 8 bit POS.
