Anyone hear about the new Camden Supercharger for the 13B?
Did anyone hear about the camden supercharger for the 13B engine? I'm thinking about getting one on my non turbo, since it looks like a pain to swap the entire drivetrain for the turbo format..... Anyone wanna post their comments on it? Here's the URL: http://www.camdensuperchargers.com/index.php?pag=402
is it so much of a pain to do the swap that you'd pay nearly double the price for a less efficient less powerful kit thats less work to install? do you really want to switch to a carb? you can just put in a TII engine and keep the n/a drivetrain if you really want.

there is a kit you can get that will still allow you keep your engine fuel injected. like what Tyblat just said, its pretty pricey.
you can get a complete T2 engine with tranny and still have some change left for the cost of that kit.

Also, note that they state on their website that they have Ironed out most of the bugs. most means not all of them. I wouldn't really want to buy a product that even the manufacturer admits has issues with.

i thought that was old. unless they made a new one which i doubt..didnt paxton use to make one too?? i heard that one was better..but why spend that much, your only gnna get a certain amount of boost what is it like 7 or 8 psi..thats just to much money for not alot of horsepower..i mean its better than na, but just do the swap it's not that hard..plus you can use your stock na tranny, but if you want to start making more and more hp, i would def swapp the trans out for a t2, but thats later..just put the motor in and enjoy for awhile..your still have money left over,,not with the supercharger you'll be dead broke and your car will still be slow unless you port too..later gooduck
Supercharger:$2495.99
Labor: $1K
realizing how much 35% hp increase really IS: priceless.
stock HP:
S4: 146hp
S5: 160hp
WHP stock( 15% power loss is a nice conservative number IMO):
S4: 125 whp
S5: 136 whp
SC WHP ( assuming the 35% is accurate, true and not at the crank......):
S4: 168.8 rwhp
S5: 183.6 rwhp
S4 13BT: 180 hp
S5 13BT: 200hp
Mind you the supercharger estimates REFLECTs fuel mods but NOT any piggyback/standalone....in which case you could squeeze some more HP out of it but it's still not worth it in my opinion.

13B EFI Kit ~ 3649.99
Screw that man. I hate to be one of the guys that always says "well screw that, just go turbo" but..... SCREW THAT, JUST GO TURBO!!!
You get ONE advantage out of supercharging now adays.... boost at lower RPM with no lag.... but with better turbos these days, not even that is relevant anymore.

A supercharger isn't really the kind of forced injection that suits rotaries, IMO.
Superchargers are better for cars that already have excess low-end torque, and operate at overall low RPMs, which is the completely opposite of rotary engines...
A turbo on the other hand isn't effected by RPMs the way a supercharger is, you don't waste any power running the compressor (turbo's use wasted energy whereas superchargers get it from the engine's power), and you get generally much higher performance and room for upgrades with a turbo.

The poster should of searched. You'll find everything you need there including the same bullshit as posted above.
Make your own opinion by getting rides in a supercharged rotary and a turbo one. The answer will become incredibly clear for you then.

every single person i have seen who used the camden kit has wound up with a block of **** under their hood.
IMO, forget about the camden 'kit'.. they need to do alot more revisions before it will get any approval from me.

besides turbos make the PSsSsSsSHHHHH sound when let off the gas y0!!!!!
quite simply
myths
supercharging is not easier
it doesnt give you a better midrange . . .
and camden blowers have terrible efficiency. (not the apparent 35% increase for $2500+)
with the money you spend on a camden kit you could build a turbo setup or buy a full j-spec swap (take care, some motors are good, some arent, thats the gamble with j-spec)
