Anyone have an embroidery file of the 10th ann. logo?
I am looking for an embroidery file of the 10th AE logo I want to have it put into my speaker box cover and maybe have new floor mats done up and possibly a bra. if anyone knows where I could get this it would be appreciated. I can have one done but that would cost about $300 just for the file.

What all is required for the file? Most embrodery machines can deal with a vector image (like
Adobe Illustrator, .AI, or AutoCAD's DWG or DXF). If you can get me a good picture, I can easily make you the vector image.

good luck, you will need the right kind of scanner, i used to use one at a graphic design job i had.. They are tough to find and still pricey just for B/w models. I can scan you pics of my emblem on the side....its all that is left, I have no 10AE mats and the steering wheel emblem no longer has white (if it ever did i am not even sure on that one,,, can someone clarify the st. wheel for me? PM would be good) Scanning it is one thing.... getting it into vector bitmap is quite another as every shade becomes its own object/vector... very tough to edit those when there are 7000 of them for each shade of orange or whatever color.... I once scanned a pic with over 150,000 different objects...the comp i had at work couldnt even load them all (it crashed)... If you find any vbmps, and they are OK PM me about it I am interested...
Edit: the scans I could offer wouldnt be vbmps.. as I left that job 2 years ago....

No white on steering wheel and I think the badges would be hard to use as a scan because you will get too many "hot spots?" bright spots that get whited out from the scanner light bouncing back. I have brand new ones in factory package still. Maybe I need a sales brochure? or something to scan easily, and work from there. I would also like a picture of the floor mat emblem so that I can color the bitmap or vector appropriately.

do you still have a copy of the vector or bit map you used to get that rotor in your paint?

If you're looking for a software solution to automatically make a vector image from a bitmap (or scanned, same thing, really), you're going to be sorely dissapointed. I've yet to ever be happy with the output of one of those.
What I would do (literally, if you get me a scan of one) is throw the image into Adobe Illustrator and trace over it, so you have a completely clean vector image to start from. you shouldnt' have to define every single stitch, I believe that if you give the embrodier (sp?) a black and white vector image that you want, they can just load that into the machine and select which areas you want to have embrodeiered. At least, that's the way it worked at my job when we sent some shirts out to have our company logo/name put on them.
The image that I used for my roof was made from a CAD drawing I did of a rotor. it's not 100% dead on, but it's within about a .0005" tolorance. Close enough for that project

If any of those don't work for you, let me know. I can get you a replacement if you want to use it.
edit: I think those jackets were a Mazda offered thing with the 10AEs (I'm probably(hopefully?) wrong!). Don't expect them to be too enthusaistic about giving out their designs.

Don't worry Wonko I will be using reflected light from both sides and my inverted large frame tripod. (I made it specifically for shooting things like this. macro of some objects from straight down.

It's just logic and Tact Wonko, but some people in this world are either lacking it or the foresight of their actions... well I will take pictures on Sunday Apr 29 and post them as soon after as i can.

Cool you guys are the best. and thanks for the image Wonko we may be able to do something with your image and an overlay of text etc. to closely replicate the desired image.
When I asked for a scan I was hoping WE would be you. I have also tried to scan images and turn them into useable vectors for my vinyl cutter with little luck (meaning much work) but I have rarely tried (usually too frustrating) thanks again guys

Wonko I have Auto cad version 14 I know it is old but it is all I have. I am not sure if they still do it but you used to be able to choose an older format to save in could you do that for me? Thanks

Tinvestor - Here's a link to the R12 Version. I'm honestly not sure how Acad 2006 deals with converting it back that far, though, so your milage may vary, use at your own risk, etc, etc, etc... especially considering that going from the Acad .dwg file (256k), it made it 1.24Mb.. Let me know how it works

The images that you want for things like this are in vector. Vector images are basically like a CAD file. Instead of assigning a value to each pixel, it just contains a list of coordinates, like "this link starts at X,Y, and is X thick. It ends at X,Y, and is still X thick".
Because of the difference in formats, Bitmaps are great for photos or things that use very fine shading/gradients. Vector... not so much. But if you want to enlarge/ things, vector rules because it's infintately resizable. all it has to do is move the X,Y start and end points of lines, and it's done! Bitmap images will seriously distort.
The other ability of vector is to work really, really well with all kinds of graphic design equipment. Vinyl cutters, embrodery machines, even CNC machines can read the information in the lines, and then tell the cutter/plotter/machine how to replicate it.
that's the short answer

When you had them made, you had to pay a large fee for the guy to digitize the pattern right? When you pay them you are entitled to a copy of the file that you paid to have made. Can I buy a copy of the file from you? I intend to use it on things other than just carpet badges, so I would need the actual file. I would like to have my headrests done and the top of my speaker box here is a link for all who want to see.

I'll still vectorize the image for you, if needed, tinvestor. A lot of times shops won't give out the files, even if you paid labor time for them to make them. They're still retiaing rights to the file. It depends on the shop.

... those badges look alot nicer than the picture i have... however mine is original to the car, but in rough shape. I do appologise for the condition they are in. I remember them being in better shap but i have only looked at them twice. once when i was removing the floor mats and the second to take this picture.
I'm sorry i could not be of more help,
Ryosuke
