Aaron Cake loves them, I believe that Keven (RotaryResurrection) loves them as well.

I personally prefer the versatility of the Taurus, due to the 2 speed feature. Taurus fits very nicely. Low speed is enough for most applications.

These are pictures it just happened to be in... I like it a lot, it really does fit really well. I've since upgraded to an AWR radiator and it fits on that nicely too. And once I got the wiring in my megasquirt fixed it cools really well, it drops from 198 to 170-175 in about 10 seconds.

someone else probably has better pictures...

and also on a side note:

It has to be the Fiero GT fan (I think Fiero Formulas have the same fan, they have the V6 in them too). normal fieros with Inline 4s don't have the same fan, their's don't even have shrouds.

looks clean thanks, ive had a Taurus fan in my s13, was nice too after some trimming, but i think its a little more bulkier then the fiero fan, and the 2 speed isnt really needed. My concern was also that the fiero fan doesnt draw as many startup amps like the Taurus fan. I may grab one someday, i love the clean empty engine bay look.

Never assume what you read on the interweb is true.

Well, you never know until you actually measure the amps. If the running amps are similar, likely the startup amps are as well.

Yeah I've got a fiero fan in mine as well and it fits perfect on my koyo radiator. Freakin' bearing is going out so when it turns on it makes a horrible noise so I have to shake it a bit and it goes away I will be replacing it with the same fan though, I really like it.

Coverage is great. I have it on my koyo and when it comes on the front of the car becomes a vacuum cleaner…sucks up the leaves on my street.

I think "love" is a bit strong of a word to use when referring to an electric automotive cooling fan. "Like" may be more appropriate. The GM fans fit very well and seem to be reliable:

Got my fiero gt fan today at the junk yard $15 bucks, 1/2 off new years sale. I only saw 1 fiero gt and it was basically untouched lol.. there was also a regular fiero but that was it. I probably should have looked around and got a spare elec motor for this but whatever.

Test fitted it on a junk fc heres some pics

I cant wait to clean this badboy up and get it set... I just need to do a lil more homework on wiring.

I had this setup in my old s13

Not sure i want one of these in my rx7... Want something a little more reliable but im on a no-job budget lol.

think a 185 /170 cut off degree temp switch will be sufficient?

Are you planning on using that remote probe adjustable unit? If so, it has about a 15 degree swing between on and off. Therefore, if you have a factory thermostat in the engine and you set your fan 'on' temp at 185*, the stat will attempt to cool down to 170* which is below the temperature where the thermostat has cut off coolant flow to the radiator. This means that the thermostat will open and then close nearly completely when you are on the highway. Also, the fan will not shut off on the highway, but will cycle on and off as well.

The off temperature should be set at or slightly above the opening temperature of the coolant thermostat, or 182-187*. I am currently using that same switch (until I have time to redo my fan setup ) and have it set to turn OFF at about 182* It turns on at about 195-197*

I am measuring the on and off temps with a VDO temp gauge sensor mounted in the water pump housing. The temp switch probe is in the coolant flow in the upper inlet of the radiator.

maybe just a typical set temp switch
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

since its pretty simple. They pop thru the rad fins. Maybe wire up a 12v indicator led in the interior to let me know whenever it kicks on.

heres a vid of me testing it

I have one of those I will give you, if you want it. Remember these fin mount probes are only as good as the contact with the coolant. The switch is accurate, but you have no way to adjust for the precision of your mounting. The adjustable is quite a bit more flexible. If your location is not perfect you can adjust it.

Use a Relay as well! Uh, ok, I see that is a kit and has a relay as well as instructions. Probably a good Idea. Then you can use your adjustable switch with it.

The switch I would give you is without the relay, but I still have the instructions.

thanks for your input jackhild59, much appreciated!. So the typical 185/170 switch will more then likely be running most of the time since its cut off goal is actually lower than the typical rx7 running temp? i c.
Edit: I just read that... ok ok lol

I been meaning to pick up a water temp gauge, preferably a VDO as well since they are inexpensive and good quality. I dont really trust my dash gauge since it stays right in the middle all the time after warm up and didnt want to be using that to adjust the fan lol.

Also, what is this sensor in the rad ? *got the car like this*, just curious because ive yet to look up the differences between stock setup and what I have.

Another option for me is considering the simple voltage switch as indicated here, seems like it would be pretty nice.

That's the low coolant sensor in the picture, can't use that.

The simple voltage switch looks simple. However, I wouldn't personally want to rely on my non existent circuit board wizardry to make my cooling system function.

for sure!

If i go with a temp switch that uses a threaded probe, any suggestions on where to place it? I got a nice spot for one, but id like to reserve that for when i get a water temp gauge.

edit: you think if i get a temp switch that uses a threaded probe and stick it there, i could also tape that probe line to use for the temp gauge?

Threaded temp prob - maybe you could stick it in the radiator Neck thing that connects to the hose.

nvm, i got all the correct goodies on order, jackhild59 thanks for the help.

Will post a write up once parts arrive.

Got a temp sensor adapter on order from ebay to go here

Will use that to plumb the fan controller
Hayden 3561

Since my ubber jdm tyte rad hose is already cut for a adapter anyways, and it makes sense to get a readout for the fan at the water temps hitting the rad.

Than Ill have to order a water temp gauge, and Ill plumb that at the typical water pump jacket area for the most accurate engine water temp reading. Probably go with a VDO gauge due to inexpensive pricing and quality
