Anyone else not build boost while idle'ing
its werid but my 7 won't build boost while in idle'ing. also it doesn't build boost in 1st. every other gear i build it fine. I'm wondering if its just my car or every other Tii as well. i have intake exhaust, and thats it. anyone have any ideas? thanks.

when ur idling why would it build boost?.....im not 100% sure about this..but boost depends on engine load..similarly...if u have it in neutral and rev the **** out of it...it still wont build any boost

turbo builds boost off of the exhaust gasses spinning the turbine wheel witch turns the compresser witch compresses.... boost! so at idle the exhaust gasses are not flowwing enough to spool the turbo to make boost.... you should however build boost in 1st gear... or while in neutral revving it

I hope the turbo isn't making boost at idle!
I don't know of any turbo that'll make boost at 750RPM!
Are you talking about making boost revving in neutral?
It's all normal.
It should boost a little in 1st.
Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge?
Turbos build boost by engine load.
So, if your engine isn't loaded, it won't make boost.
Revving the engine in neutral is not enough engine load to create positive boost - not unless you have an expensive ball-bearing turbo.
1st gear is not enough load on the engine to produce boost, so it makes very little or no boost.

I'm sorry i was be retarded... i didn't mean idle, i meant reving in neutral. its late and i'm not thinking correctly, god i sound like such a newbie. the reason why i'm asking is cuz my roommates FD build boost by reving in netural. so i'm basing this off his FD

Thanks ted for your reply... i figured that much, but i don't know of any other Tii's in my area, so i have no one to compare with. only other turbo cars my friends own, and they do build boost in neutral. I also have an Apexi boost gauge.

And - the dash boost gauge often is low.
And - the stock pressure sensor is delayed by an restrictor pill.
A mechanical boost gauge, with its own tube to the manifold will give an accurate reading.
