anyone with a 89/90?

I did a 87 to 89 engine swap am looking for someone who has a '89 or a '90 to check and see where the air fuel ratio sensor or the fuel resistor relay connects to the wire harness. They are located next to and underneath the air box. I have no connectors for them and the front wire harness is cut. On my 87 the connectors ran on the passenger side harness am guessing that on the 89 they run with the front? Color code on wires would be a great help, thanks in advance!

The 88-92's didn't have the resistor packs, since they ran high impedance injectors. Depending upon what injectors you're using, you may not even need it (also depends on what harness you have in the car)

I'm almost positive without the fuel pump resistor relay the pump will not turn on... the engine is installed with all the wiring except that, in place I had to hot wire the fuel pump to get fuel to the engine and the car started. On my schematic it shows the (fuel pump resistor relay) is needed to complete the signal but does not give me a full wiring diagram to show where is goes. As far as the air fuel ratio I can run without, but it will run rich and would rather just find the wires and take the extra time in doing this right. Does this make sence? I am hoping someone could just look at there 89 90 and tell me where they go.

You mean the relay bolted to the radiator support infront of the air box? I thought you were talking about the resistors which are under the airbox on older cars. That's not on the engine harness, that's on a harness of it's own, I believe it wraps around to the drivers side, and comes back through the drivers side main harness. As for the a/f ratio, I'm not sure what you mean. The oxygen sensor? That generally comes off a black single wire on the engine harness near the BAC valve.

The fuel pump resistor relay on this car is under the air box, its supposed to be connected to the circuit opening relay since both regulate power to the fuel pump. It is metal and looks like a big heat sink. We might be talking about the same thing.. The car is a 87 we are working off of and using a 89 engine. If you could give me just a color code of the wires connecting to the relay, that would solve the entire problem for me and I'll have this car on the street in no time. Thanks for your help!

The air fuel ratio sensor is located to the right of your pressure sensor and is connected to the same harness as your fuel pump resistor. I believe they run on the harrness infront of the car next to the horn. I do not have my car at the moment to tell you the color of the wires and the schematic will not show that so if no one else can help I will have the information for you by tomorrow. I am guessing all you need is the colors of 3 wires off the air/fuel and probly 4 to 6 wires on the fuel relay is this right?

Wow, some strange names for things! Anyway, from what it seems, the A/F ratio 'sensor' is more commonly known as the idle mixture screw (if it's next to the pressure sensor).

Here's the colors for the variable resistor (idle mixture screw): (off the engine harness). As for the fuel pump relay/resistor. It sits underneath the AFM, right infront of it, bolted to the radiator support bracket right? I'll look that up too.

sonicrat is rite and looks like he has the color codes for you less work for me even though I should have came over to help, sorry my bad. Just for the record yes it is the idle controle "screw" but what does it controle Air/fuel maybe we all learn something new everyday and with cars it can be very confusing for different ppl in different situations we should all carrie picture phones. Later cheat, Thanks for helping him out sonic you would be a good guy to know.

no luck I can not find the wires you are looking for. I took up the air box and mine are the 88 style that run with the passenger side harness. I am guessing your idle mixture screw and the fuel pump resistor relay run together in front on your vehicle with the headlight wires. Sorry man if you didnt live so far away I would just drive over but I probly wouldnt beable to help either since I have the older style are you sure they run with the front harness?
