from the FAQ:

It is the Condenser (capacitor) for the Oil Pressure Sender. It is needed to protect the oil pressure gauge from burning out in the event of sender failure, and for smoothing any erratic pluses from the sender.

I've never seen one on a S4 car; pretty sure it's S5 only. You profile says you have a '87, so I'd guess someone put a S5 transmission in the car and didn't bother to remove the capacitor from the housing. You won't have a wire running to it unless yo route one yourself.

Didn't know my post was offensive. Don't cry about. I said I've never seen one on a S4, and I've owned 2 cars. Clearly it's not found on all S4s.

It's not found on all S5s either...but in both cases it's supposed to be there.
Originally attached to the clutch slave cylinder, it's commonly ignored/forgotten when clutch/tranny work is performed and disappears soon thereafter.

I was not offended... And I don't recall any crying. I just want the guy to get the right information.

The second one is on the firewall side of the driver's side strut tower, around the coil pack.
