Anybody know about those cheap drilled rotors on ebay?

There are a couple of guys on Ebay selling drilled Brembo rotors, for pretty cheap. I figured that they are taking standard Brembo rotors and doing the drilling/slotting themselves. Anybody have any experience with these? Any opinions?

why would you want X-drilled rotors anyway? they only help in rain, even then, you wont notice a difference. Other then that, they decrease the life of the rotor.

People that say it helps release gasses from the pad are a couple years off... all modern pads are gasless.

'bout the only reason I can think to get them is 'coolness' factor. I mean if you have nice big wheels that you can see the rotors through, it gives a nice look IMO.

I wouldn't spend a lot of $$ over the non-drilled/slotted though... I suppose if you're not going to generating a lot of heat (autox) they probably would have a pretty good life.

Wonder how much weight is really reduced? I'm not good enough to notice 2 lbs (if that) of weight removed.

I think its more for reduced rotating mass, like lighter wheels, driveshaft, etc.

I thought it was to remove the super-heated gas that is produced and in racing conditions will effect brake contact with the rotor.

I bought mine from Irotors.com. Was something like 280 for all 4. Have them on for like 3 months now. My brakes feel amazing now. I had 85K on my old brake pads (but my mechanic said they were still good), I replaced those with rx7.com brake pads. I'm not sure where the improvement was, but its like night and day.

And they look cooler than hell.

Slotted are better suited to street and autocross driving. You get more bite and they keep your pads clean.

Drilled are more for high speed track use. I wouldn't buy any that someone has drilled themselves, your just asking to have them crack.
