i have a single n1 exhaust system, it will not melt ur bumber as long as u put all the rubber hangers on and align it so it isnt touching ur bumper!
if ur muffler is rubbing against the bumper its gonna start melting it. as with my "custom" system, it was off center and rubbing against it and started to slowlly melt a hole where it touched.... i had it straightend and there is no melting problems anymore.

heh, i know that spot... out at the point past the lighthouse.
man i miss my old town, woulda been a kick to have my 7 when i lived there... i actually drove the first 7 and got the addiction while i worked at pacific coast interprises (volvo/isuzu/chrysler/jeep), an '87 T2 came in as a used car and i got the luxury of getting to do the inspection on it, one of the checks was to check for sufficient power!
