Any one have experience with MK1 Camber plates

Just wondering if anyone has used them, and wondering how the experience was/is.

If it is true that they are CNC'd billet aluminum, they should be some good pieces.

I would appreciate the feedback.

I'd worry more about the bearings than about the material that the plate is made of. The Ground Control ones are good because they use flat roller bearings which keep the load off the sperical bearing for instance. A poor quality bearing will lead to slop and noise issues.

I definitely thought about that.

But for the price of the GC plates I would rather get the AWR's, with caster(even thought I don't need that yet).

I have also read the GC plates were'nt specifically designed for FC's rather they took it off another car that had a similar design.

I might just get some Tein plates and call it a day.

You shouldn't have to use the expensive special hat with the roller beaing inserts. The strut bearings from a 93-97 MX6 are made for struts the same shaft diameter as an FC and can work with camber plates made for an RX-7 (I'm running this setup on my 89 MX6 GT). As long as the plates come with a spacer between the spherical bearing and the upper spring hat, that is bigger than the diameter of the strut shaft, you should be okay (something cone shaped preferably, mine are)

Pic of strut mount bearing off 93-97 mx6. Just needle bearings in a plastic housing. They can be had from Rock Auto for $10 a piece.

I can illustrate further if that doesn't make sense.

Oh, and do you have a link to the MK1 plates you speak of?

I bought a set of those MK1 "Mookeeh" camber plates off of ebay. They are NOT the same quality as is pictured in the auction. They seriously looked like I had made them myself. One of the plates appeared to be milled incorrectly and the screws they included to mount them were not right for the application.

In short... they were total crap and I returned them promptly. Don't buy them.

I see them on Ebay, and thought wow wonder how those are. But I think I might just go with the AWR's. Forgot to mention, I didn't see any MK1 FC plates but they have some starion versions on Ebay right now.
