any new tps upgrades?

So my ongoing project has a bad s4 t2 tps. I am currently running a megasquirt ecu, so I am thinking about upgrading to a full range tps. I may get a used tps, I saw a new s5 t2 tps costing $300!

Has anyone retrofitted any other brands tps on the s4 throttle body yet? I wouldn't mind buying a new tps off another car that is cheaper and modifying my throttle body for it to fit.

I have a fd uim and throttle body sitting on the side. Its been a project I have not done yet because of I don't have a tps, I would need to remove my turbo to install my s5 lim, and I also need the elbow that comes off the throttle body. Are there any good retrofitted tps options available for the fd throttle body?

Again, I could buy a used tps from a forum member, but I would feel better with a new tps.

I fitted a haltech tps on both my s4 and fd throttle body.....its bolt on to the shaft just make a metall bracket to screw it onto. Took less then 1 hour to make it fit and costs very little. I think i used the clockwise version

Pic of the s4 install(prototype of bracket, i made one in aluminum later on that was polished but i lack pics of it

Awesome! Did you have to modify the center of the sensor to fit the fc shaft?

generic GM sensors have been used, requires omitting the OMP linkage though

no mods to tps or shaft....omp was removed thou, it should be possible to extend the shaft with fairly simple measures to fit both

I was doing a google search on the haltech tps and there was a forum talking about how the Haltech TPS was a GM tps. Would you have a specific application I could search to purchase? Are the GM ones all clockwise?

My omp is deleted. Thanks guys, this is helping me a lot and I am close to having my car running

haltech only makes ECUs, the sensors they "use" are mostly GM parts.

i don't have the part numbers, as i don't generally use those sensors or source them.

I'm using a FD UIM and TB, a large part of that was to ditch the FC TPS and use the FD one. I don't have any complaints with it.

I just got my tps. Did you cut down the shaft that all the the springs and cable holder bolts to? Its very long. I'm thinking of cutting the shaft shorter. Any tips? The shaft doesn't fit the half moon in the tps, but it goes in and turns. So fat you haven't any problems by just pushing it in? I'm wondering because the pivot point is slightly different.

I did not modify either the shaft or tps.....it slide right on there, its a tight fit thou.
Edit: i did modify the tps on that pic because it turned the wrong way (haltech sent the wrong one). So i grinded of the plastic so i could mount it the other way around, thats why you can see the shaft thru the tps. DONT DO THIS hehe it will break very fast....dont ask how i know

I was going to have my buddy machine a cap that I could weld onto the thicker portion of the shaft, but it wasa little much work. So I'm going to just mil a little more of the portion of the flat part of the shaft so it pivots Better on the plastic tps.
I also found the bushings on my linkage had too much slop and my throttles weren't opening all the way. I added a washer to the 2 bottom throttles and they open together and all the way now. Maybe I'll take some pictures and post

well my thought is to make a TPS work without any modification, but to ditch the standard narrowband and use a more common alternative TPS mounted on a bracket.

rather surprised no one has really gone that route, since the standard FC TPS will all be dead rather soon and their cost is rather rediculous.

That would be cool! Yeah, I saw the price on oem tps and it was ridiculous. Used tps, no gaurantees on life of it, but affordable.
I'll see if I can take some pictures and post on my tps upgrade. It won't be something everyone will want to do, but give people ideas on their own projects

I noticed your shaft went the whole way through. I was wondering why.
