1983 rx7 fb, should i buy it?

Hey guys, im really new to this fourm and i was considering if you can help me with an decision.

I have an opportunity to purchase an 1983 mazda rx7 fb next to mint condition. Im not sure if its an 12a or 13b, and also not sure if its an se, gls, gls-se. Id like your insight on this.

The engine was fully rebuilt, new apex seals, new tires and rims, new msd ignition as well as new suspension. It has been sitting for 5 years in a heated garage. Thanx guys

Looks like a decent car and looks to be a GSL-SE with a 13b.

Hes asking $13,000 on the low end because he compared them to others he had found. Said he spent almost 5k on wheels, tires, engine rebuild, and suspension.

I knew it was a 13b because of the RE-EGI and i thought that he had debadged the gls-se badge because i thought it was sticked on not bolted on like how the mazda badge once was. My buddy said it was a 12a n just an se but i doubted it. Ill try to get more info.

13k?

I wouldn't pay more than 4k for that car.

13k hahahahaha I've given up on buying cars from Illinois. Seems like everyone is selling their car at the I wanna keep it price. Johnny has a hard time coughing up 4k for it and I have a hard time coughing up 3k for it . The car looks rough.

It's not a 13k car. 4k max and that's if it run right with good compression. Post the VIN from the plate on the passengers side firewall and we can tell you the year/engine.

Hell, I have q 1985 GSL-SE I'd sell for 6k and it's a lot nicer.

now that's what a glsse is suppose to look like . Hell the other car is advertised at a 83 and the engine and dash scream 84-85.

yeah, that's either not an '83 or it's an '83 that someone went to A LOT trouble in trying to make look the part of an '84-'85. you can tell by the windshield cowl. that's something most people wouldn't think to change. if put on the spot, i would guess it's probably a genuine SE (driver's side strut tower could help confirm).

VIN would confirm.

either way the price better be a typo or the car is NOT worth it! also, it doesn't matter if he spent $20K on wheels, tires, engine, etc. the car is nowhere near clean enough to warrant a 5-figure price. Post #6 was either very generous or misguided (no offense meant) because i wouldn't even pay $4,000 for that car as is.

It's only worth someone wants to pay for it.

Is the STICKY at the top not big enough?(rules of section "no asking should I buy this car")
Please do your research before buying a car as this section is not meant to ask whether you should spend your money on a car.
IT is a TECH section. So with that in mind I will leave you to grab a coffee and start your research on buying a car.
Thread is now Closed as you are asking questions on whether you should make a financial purchase which is strictly up to YOU.
After all it is your money.
Good Luck, and If you do buy a Car then please feel free to use this section if you come across any Technical problems with it.
