I read where he said he can do more porting of the s4 wastegate. Also I guess it would depend on what kind of manifold you have since they have to match.

hey ShadowX.

Sorry about the late reply. Haven't been on here in quite a while. The difference between the S4 and S5 is ofcourse the wastegate porting. The S4 port job is like no other. On any upgrade we install 30-35 mm wastegate pucks. These allow for a larger port to eliminate boost creep. It is a heck of a job to do and is a very difficult procedure for only $100 when you buy the turbo. Another turbo shop would easily charge you 250-300 to do it, but I pretty much throw it in there cheap b/c I know most people are on a budget that own T2's. I just converted my T2 to a hybrid. I went to a stage 2, but with a 35mm wastegate port and an "O" trim turbine wheel. I am hoping for anywhere from the 330-350 RWHP at or below 15 psi. The turbo probably can do more, but I am tired of blowing up my T2 .

So why is it that you are not able to do this style of porting on the (S5) turbo? Please PM me a response.

s4 wastegate is about 1/2" hole,

s5 has two of them, one for each exhaust runner (one per rotor). I believe both of these are bigger than the single s4 wastegate hole.

so 12mm or so to 35mm, thats removing a lot of material not to mention making it fit but making it flow.

s5 t2 started off w/ a better wg.

never ported either of the t2's turbos, but i do know how godawful tiny the s4 wastegate is.

i think ill be happy w/ my tial w/g but still want a stage 2

bryan, how does o-trim affect the stage 2 vs just a clipped turbine wheel?

Hmmm very interesting about the WGs. I knew about the differences in the WGs, but was curious why in the above it is said the stage IV is offered for the (S4) & not the (S5)?

from what bryan has told me. stage 4 is a q trim or o trim turbine wheel and not just a clipped stock turbine like 3 is.
so big boy turbine wheel
i remember reading about s4 having bigger a/r than s5 or maybe it was the other way around, but i have no idea what effect that would have on anything, just stating something useless about the stockers exhaust side

Call Bryan, he's more helpful in two five minute calls then 2 days of trying to BS on the internet.

Thanks for all of the help. I know that I'm going to go with the BNR Hybrid. I'm just wanting to find info out about staying a (S4) setup or changing to the (S5) setup... Thank again for the help.

I have a mint 10th AE with 10X,XXX miles on the original motor/turbo/trans/etc... This is why I'm wanting to go with BNR and it is bolt on... Very simple and OEM appearing... With other minor bolt ons and EMS
