Any chips for n/a s5??

i was wondering if anybody made a n/a s5 chip....i am planning on using a s-afcll to tune fuel and i read that having a performance chip as well as using the s-afcll to fine tune fuel will yield even greater gains in power and driveability.....

im only after making a well balanced bolt-on set-up.

So....what do ya think.

thanks
matt

CS sells one, but you gotta ask them about it.

I would skip the chip and just go with the SAFC. The chip is usually just a random guess at the correct fuel maps for your mods, while your SAFC will allow you to tune your own car (or pay someone else to) for the optimal fuel-air ratios for best power, best gas mileage, etc. Of course, corksport might do some other stuff, I dunno.

Best choice IMHO would be to go standalone which gives you full control over both fuel and spark. But you're looking at about twice the cost of a SAFC (if you go with the DIY megasquirt n spark), so your choice.

Thats why you call them and see what they have to say. A DIY Megasquirt 'n spark isn't that expensive, it can be done for $300ish and it is a standalone, so its your best bet, except for you have to install it and tune it (or find someone close and knowledgeable to do it).

Wideband is needed for both a SAFC and Megasquirt 'n Spark.

Also when you call them you can specify what you want or if you even need it. Its hardly not an end all, but the product is just like any other reprogrammed ECU. It gits R done.

Why do you need a chip for?
To disable the rev limiter?
Not a good idea...

S-AFC will help you adjust the normally-rich maps in the stock ECU.
That's all you need to do.

i just figured a chip would also give me a more aggresive timing map.

i though about megasquirt but i didnt relize that megasquirt could control timing on rotarys.

i may go megasquirt.....but the problem with that is i dont know anybody thats has done it or tuned a rotary using megasquirt.

having megaquirt will ultimately give more gains in power and driveability over the s-afcll correct?

Don't know anyone that has it tuned on a rotary? I know quite a few people on this forum, including myself, who are running MegaSquirts quite happily

There is, in fact, a whole MegaSquirt subform here at RX7club.com

Correct!

Its the Megasquirt 'n Spark that controls the ignition, its the new fad . With the other one you have to use a dizzy off a first gen :O!

Why don't you just crank the CAS over?
It's the same as advancing a distributor...

Yeh, but turning the distributor and advancing the WHOLE map is a bit different then setting key points in a timing map

Why would you care if your high-vacuum, low load maps points have enough ignition advance?
Why would you care if your partial throttle, medium load map points have enough ignition advance?
Especially for an NA, it's all about WOT!

I donno, tuning this MegaSquirt, I'm finding all kinds of different fun things with different tuning on the timing. ESPECIALLY since I'm changing the AFRs!

Since my car is a Daily Driver, I really care about my high-vac and part throttle stuff!

i care as well....if i only cared about wot....i'd biuld a peripheral port.

but im sending this car overseas to europe...so i need a bit of everything...good power but enough mid range to climb up those mountains....and power for coming out of all of those corners.............but reliable as well....

My method is free.
What you're asking is above and beyond what you can do for "free".
If you want that much control, you need to pay for it...
