Any benefit to oil additives?

I did a "search" but found no info on pros or cons to oil additives such as Prolong. Have been changing oil (10W30) every 1,500 miles faithfully. Using Prolong every 3,000 miles. Aside from the overkill on the frequency of oil change, does the Prolong help/hurt/do nothing?

Thumbs down Oil addiitives

Man, some people really like to spend money, 1500 miles to an oil change!!! Man, nothing like pouring money down the drain pan!!! concidering we could easily go 5000. I personnally go 3000 though.

As far as additives go, DON`T, Nuf said!!!!

Sorry, no intention to be disrespectfull, guess it`s just the way that I feel!!
