Thumbs up Any 86-88 owners want BlackCat Custom Gauges????

I spoke with Alex from Black Cat Custom http://www.blackcatcustom.com/store.htm . He only has the gauge kit for the 89-991 n/a's which have the round fuel/temp/battery/oil gauges..... ofcourse ours have the pie gauges.

In order to make the gauges, he needs to borrow a set of original faces. Since my car is my everyday vehichle, i am not able to lend him mine

Would anyone be interested in these gauges? They look like great quality and we can have them backlit orange to match the interior bulbs. If anyone is interested and has a spare set of gauges laying around, we can get him to do these up for us. Puma installed a silver set with orange backlite in his FD...... here is a pic he provided me:

You may have to right click and select "Show Picture" to see the pic...... damn AOL.

The differenece between the S4 n/a and S4 turbo is just the one gauge? Turbo has a boost gauge instead of a voltage gauge?

I have a Series 4 n/a....... but i do have a bad voltage gauge..... if thats the only difference.... i can lend them your cluster along with my bad voltage gauge and we can have them for all Series 4's.

Ok.... I spoke with Alex from BlackCat.....

The gauges are made of laminate layers of vinyl and plastic with a protective layer. They are made out of an exterior quality material. He has not had any gauges fade. The gauges are flexible, but stiff enough to keep their shape...... they will not shrivel or curl up.

The design is done from scratch, as this gives a cleaner reproduction than via scanning.

The gauges are backlit just like stock..... a colored layer is sandwiched where the writing/numbers are.

Needles need to be removed for installation.

Hope this answers everything......

hey guys, what he says is right.

I've been ask to come and tell you about the gauges. I bought a set for my 3rd gen and they are like he said. They don't light up as good as the stock one, but it is not too bad. He will only put MPH or KPH, not both.

I have been pleased with his service. I contacted him many times by e-mail and always answered the next day. But now i know w doesn't reply pften, i don't know why but call him, it will go faster.

I am pretty sure that a group buy would be possible with him. I recommend those gauges.

If you have other questions, PM me, i won't cme back to this thread. (i am an FD guy
