Man its not that hard to to feel my tires lock up and compensate for it. Its incredibly easy for me and in fact i feel safer in that than i do anti-lock brakes. i don't feel i have any control then. Like everyone else LEARN HOW TO DRIVE!!!

Well, I removed my ABS because it was leaky and introducing air into my lines.

Fact is, the ABS on the 2nd-gens sucks ***. It's reaction times are WAY slow, and its "rate of compensation" (or whatever) is really slow too. It's really just too slow to be of any real use. Want to feel an ABS system that I would NEVER want to remove? Drive a Mercedes. OMG. It's also prone to spontaneous and selective failure. Which is worse; the possibility of a skid or the chance that at any time, your ABS can fail to engage on just one wheel? I'd take the former, personally, having had instruction in threshold braking. I love the SCCA.

the ABS system in my '98 cavalier LS SUCKS *** though except at high speed
around town I can stop significantly quicker without it. (I tested by going 50 and trying to stop as quickly as possible and then marking the spot)
it's great if you want to stop from going, say, 90MPH quickly, you just slam your foot down and the car does the rest, but in town, it releases the brakes too soon and for too long to be beneficial, unless it's wet out.

ABS doesn't stop faster. that's not the point. think about it, it's releasing the brakes every sec. the point is to mantain control while in a posable lock up. it's always shorter to brake with the ABS not engauging.

umm abs stops the car quicker doesnt it?? instead of sliding continously and have no traction it goes off and no give the tires a better grip on the road...abs also allows you to steer when u stop the brakes.

"Deceleration from 62 mph with the ABS braking system took a mere 123 feet, after 3.2 seconds and nearly 1.1g (the stench from the brake pads suggested that even) better stopping performance could have been achieved once the new pads were fully seated). "

"a new style ('86 - '87), non-turbo Mazda GXL also accelerated from 0 - 60 in 8.5 seconds, but braked from 60 - 0 in 151 feet and cornered at a maximum of 0.83 g"

o yea my abs works great !!! slam on the brakes in the rain and you stop way quicker and have more controll then a non-abs model. my old 87 gxl liked to slid for a long time in the rain
