anti lock brakes

ABS was optional on Zenki turbos.  I believe they were standard on Kouki turbos?  It is very easy to check - look for the big "thing" right above the pre-cat/downpipe.

my abs
I love my ABS unit...it doesn't work properly some times, and the car sometimes pulls to the left or right...but if the fluid is good and topped off...the ABS works like a charm, perfect braking, ABS allows me to stop just by stomping on the brakes in rain. I love it.
Sure beats those Ice Racer 1st gens from this winter without ABS (although locking up the brakes and sliding was fun too)

arg, my ABS doesn't work anymore. I think the rear sensors might have been damaged when they were pulled off to do the rear toe bushings. I gota find a dealership with an ABS code checker to find out for sure.

Well mine is leaking and SUX! how hard is it to convert to standard i took out the fuse as to not have it put me into another spin! (on gravel) not fun at all! and no i do not drive it on gravel much but that was where i stored my car! Cause my brakes are anoying and unstable i took the fuse out and they work fine!

And perhaps the south got different models than the rest of the states??? ABS in CA was a rather common option on the GXL. I bet 30% that I have seen have had it.
As I recall the south got a few other different models than anywhere else in the states too ,as there have been a couple of people saying that they have yet to see a FC with 4 piston front brakes not have a LSD.

1) open mouth.
2) insert foot.
I guess there's a first time for everything. I do know, however, that it was standard only on the 89+ TIIs.

Oh, and elimination of my ABS was one of the best mods I ever did. I replaced the brake booster with an N/A unit (better brake feel, since it's slightly smaller), the BMC with a non-ABS unit, and cannibalized the front hard lines from same. The rear line can be gently bent into shape to fit the non-ABS BMC.
It was cake, and took about 3 hrs, but I'd NEVER done brake work before, and I ended up replacing the rear line anyway (don't ask, and don't follow suit )

hahahaha
It happens enough to me that I try to be gentle when I get to do it to someone else..

Super Newbie
Mine leaks like a bitch and makes it harder to yank the turbo off.
I have all the parts to swap it over (even the warning light cluster with no ABS light), but haven't done it yet.

You're kidding, right?
If I had a reliable, working ABS, I'd be a fool to remove it. Do you know how to threshold brake? Are you so good that you can feel a wheel locking up and modulate the brake pedal to get it back? If you can, I'm really impressed, but I doubt it.
