Exclamation anti flip up, need help

ok this is gonna be hard to explain ok, im getting rid of my flip up headlights. i have removed the whole assembly and all, i am planning on cutting the bumper so the ftp housings connect to the headlight housings and what i want to do is keep the stock style headlights and covers but they will nolonger pop up and the bulb will sit back almost where it used to when the lights were down. Now i know this had been done many of times but i would love to see pics of how people did this like mounting the bulbs and covers ect.. now i am planning on just making alum housings that sit in as if i were making cp style lights even though im not, i just dont want to do any fiber glass work ect and still make it look decent. but pictures of peoples set ups from under the hood view or in the process would greatly be appreciated and if i tottally lost everyone from the start i will be glad to try and explain better and maby atleast get you a link to what the set up i want to do looks like

thanks derek

Let's bump this and add to it...

My FC is going to serve race duty and I want fixed headlights myself. Yes, I've searched the board for this topic, but other than finding a hacked bumper with cheap a** projector fog lights for lamps and an FC with an FD front end I've come up with nothing.

I want fixed lamps for weight savings and aerodynamics. If no one chimes in I'll be cutting my not so nice bumper from the headlight openings down to the bottom of the FTP lenses and doing fiberglass and plastic work. I saw a front bumper on a half-cut being offered on flashoptions.com that had fixed lamps that looked ok, ut were not in very good shape and had already been sold. Anyone know what bumper and lights these might be?

I was afraid of that. This is not a high dollar project. It's going to end up right about $4000 track ready.

Uh, no it hasn't.
I don't know anyone who is crazy or stupid enough to try something like this.

but i would love to see pics of how people did this like mounting the bulbs and covers ect..
It's called a "headlight kit", and it involves a custom bumper, a custom light mount kit, and a lot of money and labor for paint work.

now i am planning on just making alum housings that sit in as if i were making cp style lights even though im not, i just dont want to do any fiber glass work ect and still make it look decent. but pictures of peoples set ups from under the hood view or in the process would greatly be appreciated and if i tottally lost everyone from the start i will be glad to try and explain better and maby atleast get you a link to what the set up i want to do looks like
All the "backyard" conversion done to Japan cars all look like ***.
All the good ones are are bumper conversions with custom light kits.

Good luck with your project...

ok thanks. but im sure there are plenty of people who have done this that didnt just go and by a super expensive conversion kit and did all the costom work alone and pulled it off to look really nice.

Higgi makes a copy of just the headlight buckets off an amemiya bumper, but you would have to source lights (rotary extreme sells just the lights for their knockoff, I believe) and the bumper must be cut down to the moulding, not just the FTP's, and glassed in.

But you already said you didn't want to do glasswork

This either is a street car or a track car.
You have to favor one.
So, if it's a track car - a sawsall & duct tape.
If it's still a street car, keep the pop ups or spend the time/money.

Hard law - You have to pick only two of the following:

fast - cheap - reliable

http://cpracing.ca/cp1gflush.htm I'm installing these now. Like Bill said, slight fabrication and cleaning up will make it a very nice finished piece.
