another short shifter question...

Hey, I was looking at the higgi's short shifter and notice on the piviot ball of the shifter, it doesn't use a plastic like insert, is this better for a shifter as it is one less thing to wear out, or.... would it be bad due to it having less cushioning, leading to vibrations and rattles?

just... wondering...

deciding between c's / higgi and miata... not really worried about $$$ just want 100% quality.

mazdatrix isnt listed due to enough people saying c's is better.

I have a Miata shifter on the way. I figured that for forty bucks I can't really go wrong...if I don't like it I'll resell on eBay and not be out much.

Well the stock shifter does not have the plastic insert, and it doesnt rattle. The miata one i have does have a plastic insert and it rattles a little. I have heard that even the really expensive ones rattle sometimes.

Actually the rattling is car-dependant(or probably tranny dependant) You can put multiple types of shifter in a car and have them all rattle, but the exact same shifters in another car wont rattle. There are details on the maztrix site.
I'm personally waiting until aaroncake comes out with his short shifter. Hopefully it will be relatively soon.

^correct.

And i think the problem with the shifter being too tight is that it scrapes on the bottom. If you make some spacers or even just some washers it may make it better. Thats what i had to do to mine, and it is soo nice now.

The prices vary if/when you find them.

If you get a C's, make sure you get the S5 one, this way, you'll have more shift **** options. I learned this the hard way, I have a S4 one, lousy shift **** selection.

Most C's go for around $250, so $210 shipped is a pretty decent deal.

Yeah, when is Aaron's going to come out? I would really like to get one.
