Another Pulsation Damper Thread...

My '86 GXL smells like gas...Actually...any car I've ever owned 10 years old or more has smelled somewhat like gas. This is no different. I looked at the Pulsation Damper and it is oily there...got some on my finger and smelled it..It smells like my oil, which has a faint gas smell to it. When the car is cold, you don't smell gas...only when it's warm...My engine has oil leaks galore, so I'm going to make a pretty unsafe assumption that this gas smell is due to my oil smelling like gas and then getting baked from the heat...? I don't see it actually leaking...and there's no raw gas sitting anywhere...just oil...

If you oil smells like gas then your side seals are getting weak.

Install the fuel pump check connectors jumper. Turn the key to ON.

Wait fifteen minutes and then look under the car and see if there is fuel dripping off the car onto the gnd.
