What do we think it's worth?
A couple years ago...I think 2, maybe 3...I stumbled across a car wrecked on the side of the road. Not thinking about it, I never went and checked it out, turned out to be FC (would have put money on it, but it was raining hard and I was on a mission) and a local salvage yard bought it. i eventually went and looked at it and found out a story:
Heavy rain and hail, kid lost control and plowed into a guard rail. not sure how well the car was running at the time, but apparently it was running well enough to take out 4 of those wooden posts.
This resulted in the front end being demolished...nothing foward of the radiator is salvageable. The hood is destroyed, as is the windshield. nothing has been removed from her, though, except an exhaust I bought. Underneath her, it was obvious she had a little underbody damage (prior to wreck) and there were some heavy dents and what not, but the engine looked ******* clean. As did the interior...what wasn't splatter with blood (kid busted his nose and lip on the steering wheel).
I'm wanting to pick her up and build another RX-7. I've got two semi-straight chassis' lying in my back yard that I've nearly stripped of parts that would be prime candidates for rebuilding.
What do you guys think? What are the odds of a motor still being good after sitting that long with oil and everything still in it? You guys think it'd be worth it at all for $300? That's what I'm going to offer him.

For 300...i would think so. If you can't use it, you could clean up stuff and part it out for a profit as was mentioned. I can see your dilemma tho, 300's kind of a should i, should i not price.

I picked up my fc after it sat under a tree for at least 2 years. When I stuck a battery in it she cranked right up so it sitting that long isn't the real problem, its if theres any other damage to her. But for 300 bucks you cant lose, if anything you can get your money back parting it out.

As many of these as we have, this should be re-titled "What do we think it's worth?" and stickied...
Yeah, I think I could make my money back out of it fairly easy, so I'm going to run over there in the morning and have a chat with him

Honestly, my 88 rx7 sat for almost 8 years before I got it. I managed to get it running and it runs quite well. As long as the hood has been covering up the engine and the elements havent got to the engine you should be fine. Mine also has a HUGE rats nest built in the whole engine compartment... It runs good now though!

One of my favorite lines when someone is trying to trade/sell something or asks me what's it worth at the shop..." in Philly it's worth 50 bucks." as spoken by Bo Diddly. Man, my 'vert sat two years in an airplane hanger, cranked right up. Did the 60k thingy and been driving the **** out of it. I'm with the rest of the guys, get it. Sounds like at least you could get your money back parting it out.
