Another koyo rant

Well it came intoday .. went to install it and sure enough the brackets needed to be modified.

This is suppose to be a slip in .. so im a bit pissed. Not that it was a big deal but its another thing i didnt want to have to deal with. Yes my car is an S5 and yes its an S5 radiator.

Blah.

Oh and my damn radiator hoses I ordered were made to long so they kink in the middle .. grrrr.

100% drop-in on my S4, but that's with the spacer kit for the stock fan shroud. What did you have to modify on the brackets?

had to bend the end tabs 10 different ways to fit in between the top and bottom tank (the welds on the end of them protrude a bit). Then had to drill holes on each tab about .5" closer to the bracket.

Having to trim hoses is pretty common.

my friend was telling me that if you don't have the right brackets it could also affet the installation because the s5 rad is supposed to sit higher than the s4, so the brackets may be different from s4 and s5... i'm not sure if you could tell them apart... but make sure the ones you're using are s5's

Mine dropped into my S5 just fine. The aluminium is very thin on the cap flang and has worn down over time (5 years). Did you get the N flow or the U flow?

I put an S5 Nflow on my s4 TII swap.the hoses needed a Touch of trimming on the Pump side.about a half inch.(Samco hoses)..No big deal.
the Bracket needed to be Redrilled to make the Rad lower so it wouldn't touch the hood.(rad cap assembly).
I used the stock brackets.
why ARE/DID you cut hoses in the Middle?.you should have really Looked at the way that the hose went on,from every angle.backwards, forwards, turned etc.I think you were just thinking outside the box that day!..Cheers STYX!~

i didnt cut the hose in the middle, but thats where they would have need to be cut in order to fit.... otherwise it would have been kinked. I pretty much told the company to **** off and send me a box to ship them back in. Going to end up buying a mazda oem upper hose for the time being.

The koyo I got was just the regular one. Part number 1144.

you were using the wrong series brackets or the wrong series radiator.

List what brand of hose you are using.
I had Stock hoses on a stock rad, then Stock hoses on a KOYO Regular Rad,then Samco Hoses on a KOYO N-FLOW..and I got them all to fit.
I did notice that the samco Top hose is a little Long, but Trimmong at the thermostat housing fixed that(as I said a half inch.).
I have put a Sender in my Top hose on the car too,for Coolant reading. It kind of Pissed me off Cutting a perfectly Good hose,.but I would rather see Temps than Look at a Blown engine,
