Talking another hood thread

aight guys im in the middle of making a hood for a guy in town. If anyone remembers I made one for a v-mount setup for a guy in New York. His turned out ok but got some damage during shipping. I used some different reinforcement on his hood and since then I have cleaned it up and got it down perfectly in the new one i have made so its even lighter and stronger as well as cleaner. Anyhow i am working on a new vent setup for this local guy and i wanted to get some opinions and share some thoughts. I made the vents more forward then my single vent in the middle so it sits atop the fan and the vents themselves arent quite as large and much easier to block off in the Portland rain. I also decided to add some other vents in the corner RE style. I am aware that there is negative air pressure by the windsheild but as the air wraps around i am sure that there has to be some air sucked back from the corner vents, so i wanted some input, as well as considering the main vents are on top and not behind the stock fan......here is a photoshpped pic, looks nasty but gets the idea across. I have the thing alomst finished but I'm not there to take pics yet, the only thing I have left to do are to finish up the sides of the vents....anyhow, gimme some feedback

lemme give this to matt and let him paint it and then ill make a mold and sell them cheap....ill sell a few for 385.....which in comparison to to some other hoods out there for fc's are pretty cheap. fc3s.org sells them for alot more and they sell carbon fiber, BUT they have a full replica underside which is much cleaner and they have the overhead to vacuum mold these thigns and the get them looking damned good, so with them you get what you are paying for. FC owners for the most part dont have alot of money to blow so when I get this to Matt or have it painted myself one or the other ill make a mold and shell them out. But guys i want to know what you think of the rear vents the funtionality of them.

i like the t2 hood but there is some debate about how functional the scoop actually is due to the pressure zones. And the reason i designed it this way was because i wanted to stay away from any raised surface this time. It became a really big pain in the *** on the last hood i made because you have to get both sides exactly perfect and it isnt as easy as it looks, plus the guy who had ordered it had paid ahead of time and I was running out of time so it was becoming difficult to get the quality i wanted out of it. Anyhow, in making this hood i just made a mold of my stock hood, made a hood from that mold and cut and push basically.

my concern would be where the hood vents drop. The last thing you want is to have the vents dropping water onto the belts as its parked. If it gets cold enough, then your belts freeze.

the vents are actually placed differently and much more foward than before. the last design I made actually had the vents over the gap between the fan and the belts. These front vents are on top of the fan, thats why they are somewhat curved out and bigger on the outside. So if it does get rain its all going to be dripping around the plastic shroud. Secondly these vents are symetrically small enough to easily make block off plates to where if it is going to be parked and for some reason rain is a concern you can just block off the vents.

Nice. If I went front mount I would get a hood like this.

The one thing I would change is the center part. Maybe have a different angle in it instead of a striaght line.

Maybe make a V out of it but a thick one to retain strength.

You really need a raised lip on the leading edge to make a reverse cowl hood as effective as it should be. I think it makes it look better also, and your prototype hood is no exception in both cases. Looks great (even better if it had a raised lip), keep up the good work.
