Another Help: "Car wont start" Thread

Alright here is my Story

I was driving home from work to drop a friend off and made it to his house fine. Then drove to my girls house and as i was leaving, i was having issues starting the car probably due to flooding so i turned my Fuel cutoff switch to the off position, Cranked the car and when it began to start flip the switch to the on position. Started up with not a lot of problem. Then I dropped her off and proceeded to head home. As i was making a right turn, shifted into first like i usually do and then It jerked and then died. At first I thought it was me not shifting properly and it bogged but then as I go to start it again nothing; it doesn't turn over. so i check the connections and stuff, ask my friend to head over to give me a jump and Nothing happens. So i leave it on the side of the road till the next day.

Next Day, I bring my tools, a used alternator, used starter, my FSM, and Haynes manual to try and fix my baby and get started. Change the alternator and try again nothing happens. I just clicks and sucks up battery juice. Then i try to change starter and now the car doesnt even click now it makes a clunk thunk sound as if its tryin to turn over but it cant. So i change the battery the next day with all new lead connectors on the positive and negative and still nothing. I tested the voltage of the battery without load and under load and i got a reading of 12.67 volts no load and 8.55 under load.

Ive tried everything and i cant figure out whats going on with my baby. So if you can assist me please let me know.

Thanks again
Saheed

8.55V just tells you that the starter can't turn, which will make it draw more power. I'm gonna bet something is jammed (mechanically) but I don't know what.

See if you can turn the engine by hand by putting a socket on e-shaft front bolt. Make sure the car is in neutral though.

have somebody smack the starter with a hammer while you simultaneously turn the key.

also try to push it and pop the clutch. if it starts fine and drives fine, you likely have a bad starter.
