Another front cover and o ring question.

I did some searching and I am still confused on how to deal with the cover and O rings. I am still keeping my OMP and i heard that RTV is a no no on the front cover? I also have the the following gasket from atkins
86-92 Rx7 Big Hole Front Cover Gasket...
will the Teflon o ring that's included solve the issue with oil blowing pass the cover and losing pressure? Any tips would help.

That gasket will be fine on 89 and newer engines, not so good on the 88 and older as they need the 85 style front cover gasket with smaller hole.

I use copper sensor safe sealent on my front cover gasket. just dont plug the OMP hole. If you have below 30 psi on startup then you gotz a problem. Make sure you have the correct front cover Gasket. if the gasket is to big the Oring will blow out on first start up and you wont have Oil pressure at all. at the very least 10 psi. I am not perfect. I made that mistake. So make sure you have the correct front cover gasket they are not all the same,

the teflon plastic ring is ONLY for s5 front Irons.. If you have an s4 front iron the Oring will be the same size as the Gasket hole and you dont need it

the gasket should Fit right around the Oring. the Oring should fit directly in the groove

i have an s4 and i am completely confused now even after reading mazdatrix explanation. =( i purchased the Atkins rebuild kit A and i think i might have the smaller front cover gasket its orange and seems to have small holes. It came with a teflon ring so I do not know what I"m suppose to do. Also having the hardest time securing me engine to torque the front bolt. Should i bother with a dab of rtv and gasket?

take a photo of the front iron. and the gasket you have.. Ill tell you if you have the right part..

the teflon ring is for the s5 irons i believe. where the s5 iron oil spout needs the teflon ring to hold the oring in since its bigger. But if you have the s4 you dont need the teflon ring.
