Note in this picture there is a coupler for the filter, that is because my filter didn't have a built-in coupler so I had to use an extra one. Most filters usually have something built in for clamping onto the pipe.

The new design I built for my s5 TII LIM and FD UIM/TB combination. This is temporary, though, until I can buy an FD greddy TB elbow and run the intake to the drivers side instead of passenger side to keep the intake length shorter.

Nice setups, but is there a dent in your FD intake elbow?

That's how it is stock. I think it's because in the FD something is in the way there, can't remember what, though.

Here's a pic where you can see the indentation, stock.

I don't see anything *too* in the way there, not exactly sure why Mazda put in the dent. Maybe it make it easier for the fluid resevoir that's right by it.

Oh I see.

I still think someone should market a legitmate cold air intake or at least the piping. Instead of saying they will.

I can do it quite easily if anyone actually wants it, but the problem is no one does really. I will sell a "kit" with instructions to anyone that wants it but most people opt to build it themselves which is why I don't really advertise.

I've built one for a local and another for a friend, its quite easy.

I can figure that it would be.

I'm just saying one could make money that way since alot of people wouldn't want to fabricate or cut parts of the car themselves out of fear of messing something up.

A complete bolt on kit with instructions would dominate.

You'd think so wouldn't you? Then how come out of all the people who have PM'd me or contacted me on AIM about making them a kit, not a single one has actually gone through with it?

Because they'd rather buy a crappy $150 HKS kit? I'm just saying if there is a legit source for it, it'll work. People also don't seem to like cutting the car at all (the frame yo). Is there a way NOT to modify the frame and make an intake? And does AEM modify the body for the CAI RX-8 kit?

That or they are scared of you, like I am /huggles.

Yes you could, but the 3" ones aren't really 3" it seems, they are a bit big. For example the 3" plumbers coupler fits on the almost 3.5" tb elbow.

So the rest of the piping I'd test fit other plumbing coupler sides to see what fits better, like 2.75" or something.

deetz: If you still have those pieces you can get the prelude kit still, it has nipples for air hookups. On some of the ones I built I eliminated the nipples, but on others I left them to hook stuff up to. No big deal, still works.

RevUp13b: Walk into the plumbing aisle, you shouldn't miss them...

One is for the BAC, other one not sure, some emissions or vac rack/pcv system thing probably. Either way they were no longer needed after I did emissions removal and ditched the BAC.

What about the rest of your emissions junk and vac rack? I think one of them goes to the vac rack for the PCV system, but I honestly cannot recall. Check your stock setup and see where both go.

I'm pretty sure one is for the BAC which helps with idle under load, but I ditched it.
